Literally the first guy you see looks like a grandpa. The language is casual but doesn’t use any “young people” phrases as far as I can see. Stop circlejerking. It’s retarded how many people here are fine with what Apple’s doing just because it’s hurting Spotify. I don’t feel sympathetic to Apple or Spotify but it just so happens that consumers should be on the same side as Spotify here because what Apple’s doing is anti-competitive. If this was an Apple site explaining why what they’re doing is fine everyone here would be disagreeing and implicitly placing themselves on Spotify’s side, everyone’s just trying to be edgy and not even succeeding at that because being anti big business hasn’t been edgy since the industrial revolution
Thanks for that link. I was thinking of doing an UI with line connecting sections together like that. Now I don’t have to google on how it’s done. I’ll just inspect this one.
Regardless of Apple or Spotify or whatever, there absolutely seems to be some blind spot in the law where digital carriers can pretty much rip off content/app creators and then fuck then over by undercutting them by just charging their competition usury fees.
Yeah I dislike a lot of what spotify does but if that page is accurate at all it sounds like Apple is being dodgy as fuck and really should get in trouble for it.
Oh, and Google even has something called Youtube Music, which is basically just like Spotify that you can get for $9.99/month on Android($12.99 on iOS).
I'm not sure what started this bad blood between Spotify and Apple, but it sure as fuck isn't over money.
You're missing the point of what I said, I literally don't care for any of these companies, they can all fuck off together.
It's more of the issue that you can own the carrier and put out a competing product at an undercut rate due to that ownership.
We used to have this problem with the rail roads until the government broke it up - rail road companies would buy factories and farms along their lines, then carry their own goods for free while charging excessive rates to competitors, effectively killing competition.
So, we are smart enough to recognize this problem and correct it when it comes to physical goods, but not digital ones. That's my issue. Apple and Google can both choke on a dick.
Them bitching about the Apple Watch app restrictions is just sad. Apple set a huge list of strict rules so developers wouldn’t bog down a low power device.
A single developer went out and made a Spotify app for the Apple Watch, he did what Spotify couldn’t or refused to do, and made a Spotify app that played by the rules everyone had to play by. And Spotify is whining here and saying that Apple just said “nah” to their app?
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 93%. (I'm a bot)
When Apple introduced the Guidelines we thought, "Yep. Makes total sense to have rules for security, safety, privacy, and quality." But Apple not only has unilaterally changed the rules themselves time and again, but also frequently decides to interpret them in ways to disadvantage rivals like us.
2016 Apple rejects Spotify's proposal for an Apple Watch app yet again.
Now just having a "Learn More" button is enough to upset the Apple cart even though this is the first time we've heard of such a rule.

Being a racist loser that makes fun of racist losers doesn't make you any less of a racist loser.
Pretending you're too stupid to understand how you spend your free time doesn't make it any less pathetic to spend your free time that way.

Outside the US, is Apple's marketshare that high?
1 POST_BUSSY 2019-03-14
Highly variable. But the more mayo a place the more iOS users (if this site is to be believed): https://deviceatlas.com/blog/android-v-ios-market-share
1 SuperElf 2019-03-14
Apparently iOS holds roughly 59% market share here in Australia
1 Scramble187 2019-03-14
It's pretty high in Japan. Their domestic Android phones are pieces of shit, and nobody wants Samsung's cause they're made by dirty Koreans.

"please get mad at Apple so we can have more money"
There is no chance enough people will raise a stink for apple to willingly take less money.

Anti-trust laws exist for this reason and Spotify definitely has a case against Apple here.

We need to take money from rich tech giant 1 and send it to manipulative corporate conglomerate 2 that'll work
1 Chukril 2019-03-14
Log onto a pc and sign up for Spotify from there. The 3 extra euro might as well be an idiot tax.
1 demotecontrol 2019-03-14
Google also charges 30% for IAP, which Spotify seems to have no problem with.

they have so much time to whine about apple not playing fair while they have a dumpster fire of an android app.
is google hampering your creative spirit too.

imagine buying an Apple device. 🤣
1 TheSubredditPolice 2019-03-14
If they're so mad pull it. iOS only makes up like 20% of the market, while android has the other 80%.
1 nickelbackvocaloid 2019-03-14
