You approached Epic? You ACTIVELY decided to break up the contract you had with us. The fact that YOU approached Epic just turned you into a fraud because you were well aware what Epic would demand of you even though you promised your backers something else.
Never again will I fucking buy anything you or you 'business guy' touch. You can expect a full complaint filed at the Authority for Consumers and Markets. You just conned us.
I'm old enough to remember when we wanted to play a game we went out, bought it and then played it. It seems like things have been made more complicated.
what sucks now is if you play a non-nintendo console, buying the physical copies of games is worthless because you still have to download the entire game onto the hard drive to play it, it just adds the step of having to also have the disc in the console when you want to play it, but im a boomer tier gamer and still play my snes and n64.
Installing another launcher is just like cheating.
Your other launcher is sitting there, on the desktop/taskbar, looking at you having fun playing games through the other. You're already emotionally attached to the original one but circumstances force you to use the other one to have fun.
Gamers are just looking out for launcher's feelings, you heartless /r/drama assholes.
Imagine you have a car and you always go to the same mechanic that offers you excellent service at a fair price. Now, that car breaks down irreparably and you go buy a new one. Sadly, that car can only be repaired by a specific mechanic, who lacks an arm, sits in a wheelchair and has down syndrome.
You'd be pissed too, admit it.
If the EGS would offer any features steam doesn't offer or at least MATCHES the functionality of steam, nobody would complain. But tim sweeney and his fortnite are just buying in games to force people into their store.
Honestly, I really can't understand how anyone can defend business practices like this.
This is more like the devs wanted a bigger cut and so they went to epic and epic being the big dick chad that it thinks it is said, if you want to sell here you gotta be exclusive with us and they caved.
I don't know why people are freaking out about epic exclusives, its developer freedom, they can choose whatever the fuck they want to do. Just don't do shit like what metro and this game are doing where they do this bait and switch kinda thing.
Small game studios are generally best served in the long term by cultivating a dedicated fanbase. Taking a dump in your fanbases lap on the eve of your game being released for a one-time cash infusion is a gamble. Not sure it will pay off for them.
Also, this looks like a frightfully generic mobile-tier strategy game, so pissing off the couple of autists who would care about this enough to donate seems risky.
As someone who has a thousand games on Steam, I see nothing wrong with competition, especially considering how lazy Steam's devs have become and how rare a worthwhile deal appears on their store.
Can i get a rundown on whats happening, some games are not on steam, why are they so tilted this one is not? Because its crowdfunded and big coorp steam is for the little guy? Im pretty sure their game will get more funding being exclusive to the browser forknife uses.
Gamers don't want to have multiple game launchers because it would involve the very strenuous work of clicking on a different button on their desktop. So they sperg out instead.
Ehh there's some good reasons behind not wanting to have any association with Epic. Apparently they are really shitty at web security so I get the hesitation. But still, anime was a mistake.
that and because it will scan your computer for information to sell and will get hacked every 15 days with your redit card information still saved in it
Because Julian Gollop is a legend. He made the original X-Com, no not that one you fucking millenial, the real X-Com from the early 1990s. We're living in the ruins of a dying culture now that's unable to create anything new, so there's a desperation to drain whatever creativity is left out of people from former generations.
I get the outrage in terms of people living in areas(China) where the Launcher isn't available, because it sounds like they were the ones fucked with. otherwise yawn, it's another(shitty) launcher, big deal.
The exclusive with Epic only lasts a year. It ususally takes about that amount of time in modern games for all the game breakingbugs and glitches to get ironed out either by updates or 3rd party mods.
I can't remember the last time I bought a PC game within 6 months of it's launch.
This. If you buy a game at release and you're not doing it as a patron of the arts trying to support some niche genre that you want to keep alive, then you're doing it wrong.
The company is retarded for doing this, but people who whine about this are even more retarded. Shut up and pirate the game, that will do much more for the cause than crying on reddit.
My theory is that all this Epic criticism originates from EA shilling Apex Legends on reddit. They mysteriously keep popping up with these inactive accounts, criticizing Epic who owns Fortnite, or Activision and BO4. Both are competing BR games.

you say that, but EGS is spyware according to their own TOS
1 BIGSTANKDICKDADDY 2019-03-14
I read in the TOS that Epic literally gets the right to fuck your girl when you use the EGS launcher.

Seems like fig investors can sue though. Good for drama coin
1 autistitron 2019-03-14
Sue over what though, Epic basically guarantees a successful amount if sales when they do this, even if they have to pay it out themselves.
1 nio151 2019-03-14
Fig investors get a revenue split from sales. This fucks over those investors unless the company splits the epic money
1 nate_fate_late 2019-03-14
tbh the fact that snappy doesn't have the "they targeted gamers" line is a goddamn war crime.

1 JTbebe69 2019-03-14
They've said themselves that even if 100% of the backers refunded the game they'd still be in the black thanks to Epics funds.
Epic done gamers a favor here. Go ahead and pirate the game since it won't effect the devs at all.

Steam has exclusives too. You cant get Half Life on GOG.

I have the Steam and Epic launchers, so Iโll prob just get Phoenix point on that bc itโs like a post-apocalyptic eldritch Xcom.
