The only point you'll ever have is that you represent the sad, fedora-wearing, bloated face of capitalism in the 21st century.
Unfairly made famous and rich through copied ideas and appealing to kids. And yet is driven by some bizarre need for attention to spout insane, teenage edge lord style views. You are clearly not all that up on politics (or anything, maybe you can code?) yet your wealth has given you an oversized platform of confused 12 to 16 year olds to yell "sjwjjwjwj" at over and over again.
Honestly, I don't give a shit if you've been driven mad by fame or some bullshit. When I see amazing creative people dying depressed in poverty every day and you get to sit on twitter and make half assed 'now yur the nazi' comments, it's fucking sickening.
Well, dumpster is there but not Garrison label style. One thing that I noticed after looking carefully at this comic is that he has no idea how humans walk.
I mean I'd say its just there because most dumpsters have labels like that there, so yeah its not a "Garrison label". And you're right, I feel like he doesn't understand how knees work.
How is this a good take? No one pitched the straw ban as a way to help the homeless. This is basically saying "how dare you try to fix smaller issues when large hard to solve issues still exist".
The homeless crisis is caused mostly by the policies of the smug, arrogant, leftwing politicians and their constituents. In places like NYC and California where there have been laws proposed/passed banning straws it is done so by the same people that are over-regulating the housing markets and drive prices through the roof. It's the same NIMBY shitheads who will bitch about pollution and shoot down any attempts to build nuclear power. Its the same fucking self-righteous fuckheads who support the teachers unions so god damn much that they allow incompetent and repugnant 'teachers' to stay in their job, set all if their pupils up for failure, and collect their paychecks every 2 weeks.

This isn't a fix for a small problem. It's an insignificant feel-good gesture that is the modus operandi of the self-righteous left. Fortunately, this is an instance where there really isn't much harm except for hamplanets who are going to have a hard time drinking their milkshakes. That doesn't change the fact that the self-righteous smug mindset that causes straw bans is the same mindset that causes all the other shit discussed above. But hey, if you regulate people out of the housing market once they OD on heroine they won't be able to pollute anymore so I guess they're doing something right.
The homeless crisis is caused mostly by the policies of the smug, arrogant, leftwing politicians and their constituents.
"This large complex problem is conveniently caused 100% by people I don't like"
it is done so by the same people that are over-regulating the housing markets
So what? "The people who like straw bans also like this other stupid policy" is guilt by association, and it says nothing about whether straw bans are a good idea.
It's an insignificant feel-good gesture that is the modus operandi of the self-righteous left.
Oh yeah you don't sound like a partisan hack at all. /s If it's an insignificant feel good gesture argue that, rather than this "but it doesn't fix a totally unrelated issue" stupidity.
That doesn't change the fact that the self-righteous smug mindset that causes straw bans
They think it'll help the environment, there's no smugness about it.
In particular, regulation increases the marginal cost of construction, both directly through the fees and time costs and indirectly by requiring construction to follow certain forms (lot size and setback requirements, for example) that the builder would not otherwise choose and by creating uncertainty about project approval. Also, some types of regulation such as growth controls effectively make the marginal cost of housing infinite by constraining the total number of housing units allowed..

Now here is the thing, and if this is too much for you to understand I can start breaking this shit down Barny-style, ok? I don't give a shit about the straw ban, it isn't the issue. It is what it represents, a type of smug person who is causing more harm than good through their ignorant, feel good policies. Now, I understand that you seem to have an extremely difficult time understanding how someone can be extremely critical of a particular segment of the left without being a partisan hack. I don't understand how exactly your brain works, but if you require me bashing the shit out of republican economic policies to understand how utterly shit much of the left is I can do that. It really isn't fucking hard, especially considering Daddy is about as economically literate as his inbred redneck main constituency.

They think it'll help the environment, there's no smugness about it.
Fucking spare me that these people aren't smug and self-righeous as fuck. I would know, I'm smug and self-righteous as fuck, but at least I can actually point to research and data to support the opinions I have.
I hate commies with the fury of a thousand suns, but still they are correct by saying that everyone should have a home.
The straw ban won't solve poverty is pretty stupid, yes, but still the fact that a straw ban is discussed instead of how to build more home for the homeless is "let them eat cake" level of ignorance of the people needs.
Sure, but this doesn't change the fact that discussing a 3rd importance problem (like the straw) instead of a 1st importance one, like the homelessness is completely losing the sight of the reality.
That’s not the point though. The point is that things like the straw ban is pure posturing that only certain people care about while they themselves ignore some bigger, more urgent problems.
What does this mean? Who is the guy in the suit? Who is the guy in the garbage bin? What does the shopping cart represent? What are the trash bags? What is this? NOTHING MAKES SENSE! THIS IS ANARCHY!!!!!!!
This is a very good political comic. It has extreme detail while retaining minimalism and avoiding overdesign and gets the message across instantly without relying on labels.

Minimalistic but filled with detail. One of Ben's more impressive pieces.

He didn't label the suitman as liberal. I dont understand the comic
1 Dogcheese- 2019-03-14
Suitman has a pink tie ergo he’s a male feminist
1 ReddneckwithaD 2019-03-14
Lmao, Benny boy even gave him a piercing in the gay ear. Guess he's capable of subtlety after all, just as long as it's jabbing

this one's actually not that bad tho

Yeah for once Ben has good take. Not only that, I don't see any label like "HOMELESS GUY" or "DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKER" or "DUMPSTER".

We find that in New York City, which is rent-controlled, an economically and statistically significant fraction of apartments appears to be misallocated across demographic subgroups
81% of economist from top American universities disagree with "Local ordinances that limit rent increases for some rental housing units, such as in New York and San Francisco, have had a positive impact over the past three decades on the amount and quality of broadly affordable rental housing in cities that have used them". 2% agree.

regulation reduces welfare because its only function is to reduce the number of housing units; it does not create any local amenities that would compensate for its negative effects. City residents do benefit from higher house prices when they sell their house and move away, but at the expense of higher rents until then.

Yeah, say what you want about the freak but this is incredibly on point.

"A straw ban won't solve poverty therefore it's dumb" is an incredibly stupid point, and I don't even like straw bans.

Governments can tackle multiple issues, they do it all the time.

They pass laws trying to fight homelessness too. It's not being ignored because of straw bans.
1 error404brain 2019-03-14
The fact that there is still homelessness means that it /is/ being ignored tho.
1 SpiceAndEvNice 2019-03-14

That's the way I interpret it anyway.

They have probably replaced Ben with a body double. He was getting too close to the truth.
1 ProMisogynist_ 2019-03-14
Wow, this art style and art quality rivals my favorite manga artists.
1 sockerpopper 2019-03-14

It's some funny shit, tbh - as is the strange principle that a local government can't deal with more than one issue at a time.

We’re just gonna kill em!
1 Coonass_alt 2019-03-14
this is unironically a good political cartoon, even for non-rightoids
1 rockidol 2019-03-14
It's a stupid cartoon. No one thought straw bans would help the homeless, so it's whining about straw bans because it doesn't solve all our problems.
1 grabthebanners 2019-03-14
This one's pretty good imo
1 Shitposting_Skeleton 2019-03-14
Alright, which one of you kidnapped Ben Garrison and replaced him with a non-dementia ridden artist?
1 secret_lurker2 2019-03-14
Unironically based
1 ElonMuskarr 2019-03-14
A lot of people in Ben's c*mics point up at the sky and wave their finger around. Why?
1 mkwstar 2019-03-14
This is actually a good political drawing, wtf
1 Detective_Fallacy 2019-03-14
For a political cartoon this is actual quality, wtf happened.
1 spergling_ 2019-03-14
I refuse to believe that Ben have made it.
It actually looks nice
