What happened here is that people in a DIFFERENT feild of science were unaware of the difference between hard and social science publications, and were upset that social science journals were publishing things that do not meet hard science standards. So they crafted some bogus work, abusing the honor system that social science journals operate on [we are going to assume that you did the research you claim to have done, and that you got the results you claim to have gotten], but making sure that it fit the formatting, organizational, and reference requirements of the social science conversaton.

So 90% of being a social scientist is learning how to format word documents.
