A (now) mixed user base and a realitypilled mod continue to fight for the very soul of /r/PanicHistory. Will it escape from leftreddit? Is radical centrism just the alt right?!

So before the Dark Times™ of the Culture Wars™, /r/PanicHistory was a fun sub for compiling the asinine, paranoid, and idiotic predictions of doom and gloom that lots of reddit likes to eat up. A stroll through their sidebar contains no more than 19 links to hilarious panic, from Bush cancelling elections (10 years ago!) to something about all bees being murdered to a nuclear scare that I vaguely remember people on the internet (but nowhere else) whining about in 2012. There's OG "officially a dictatorship" links from 2006 and "This is worse than Nazi Germany" stuff from all over Obama's second term: it's all very exciting and entertaining.

Somewhere along the line, though, the userbase thought making fun of insane people who thought Obama was the anti Christ meant PH was a leftist, woke sub. And those people (including real, live SRSters and Ghazelles!) are not taking very kindly to submissions from places like /r/politics or SRD, insisting on downvoting and "Actually, it happen"-posting at anything that dares make fun of someone screaming into the sky about Dictator Drumpf. Complicating matters is the most active mod, governmentshill (don't know if I can ping, whitelist when?), who insists on posting both panic from both the right (this is a good thing) and the left (this is problematic). Adding insult to injury, he's begun flairing people who get into apologetics when it comes to the panic, regardless of their "side".

The sub is pretty slow these days, so there's only been four submissions all week, three from /r/politics and one from SRD. All four feature massive infighting between lefties, centrists, and righties, with the lefties insisting there isn't any panic and the centrists and righties insisting there is. None of the threads are long (smallest is 22 comments, biggest is 45), so I'm linking to the complete threads.

"This sub was so much better before T_D started shitposting on it."

"You're an older fag dude. Work up to that heart attack and drop over. I'm happily gay before you say anything, I'm gay, but you're the fag."

"Kinda feel like this sub is gaslight central these past few months"

"I went through your post history and OOOF, that's a yikes from me, chief."

Bon appetit!

The joke is that this November your vote counts exactly as much as a senile retiree whose political sources are nestled between a thread of gay furry porn and a thread of kids wearing swimsuits.

I am a bot. (Info / Contact)

there are a lot of subreddits on reddit that could be really good and entertaining if they were not modded by or filled with powerusers who are complete fucking faggots. panichistory is definitely one of the top ones in terms of potential.

Did the mods here ban your main account?

no

PH died, like most of the internet, during GG when BestofOutrageCulture decided to link damn near every post from KIA on there and the ghazzeles and SRDines flooded in to jerk over the same posts they had already jerked on elsewhere.
