The protagonist of this drama is a man named Seungri, he is a member of one of the most popular Korean boybands, BIGBANG. Aside from his musical duties, Seungri's been managing a nightclub called Burning Sun and has made connections with several business partners. Many of his bandmates have been concerned about Seungri's business decisions, but no one would have thought that it would rise so far up on the scale.

The drama started late January after a man by the name of Mr. Kim accused Burning Sun's security guards of beating him after he protected a girl that was sexually assaulted. After his arrest, Mr. Kim then described being beaten by police after he was taken to the station. Eventually, CCTV footage of the event surfaced, and Seungri put out a formal apology for Mr. Kim's troubles, saying that he wasn't present at the time of the beatings and was shocked by the amount of violence brought out by the club. After the event, Burning Sun shuts down, and many wonder if Seungri's agency, YG, is concealing evidence.

Later, Seungri's messages from the chat app KakaoTalk were leaked to the public via his friend's phone. In these messages, Seungri appears to be arranging VIP clients with "prostitutes" (later discovered to be women that were already drugged and couldn't consent), which is highly illegal in South Korea. Another popular singer, Jung Joon-Young, was also found in the messages and was caught recording sexual acts with the women without their consent, while several other celebrities were found laughing along. One of these celebrities is Zico, who at one point joked about asking for Jung Joon-Young's "golden phone," implying that he was complicit in or even supported Seungri's operation.

A few days later, CCTV footage from Burning Sun shows a woman being drugged and raped in the Burning Sun facility. Several other observations have arisen in the days afterward, including details from Seungri's highly NSFW birthday party, Jung Joon Young‘s previous sexual assault accusation, Burning Sun's tax evasion, Seungri’s drug use, Police corruption, and even more explicit text messages.

Seungri decided it was best to retire from the entertainment industry as a whole. He is forbidden from leaving South Korea and he still maintains denial of his crimes, which could land him up to three years in prison. However, Jung Joon-Young has admitted guilt for his activity in the group chats and the prostitution ring. They are both to be summoned in court tomorrow.
