The psychological harm has already been done. I sprinted from the diag, fearing for my life, and the lives of the friends I'd just departed ways with. I've sobbed for the past hour. There being no real threat to physical safety does nothing to alleviate what I felt/feel.
Imagine finding out it was balloons and not feeling embarrassed. Awareness campaigns should include hearing what an actual gunshot sounds like.
