I totally realize most people are going to disagree with me here but I feel compelled to say that closing the sub for a joke wasn't a very kind thing to do. We have seen TONS of posts from vulnerable populations talking about how this sub is a source of support and humor in a dark time. Irony and dirtbagism aside, taking away that support without warning was not okay.
You can say I'm being silly, or humorless or reactionary. Whatever. I love the show and I love this community. But sometimes I come home after dealing with ableism and our nightmare reality all day, and this sub is one of many things that make me feel better. It wasn't a good feeling to find this sub closed for the sake of irony. Maybe that's laughable or pathetic. But for me, it's true.
i think it's latter, some sort of group mental illness contagion. We have a few studies that are already pointing out that within peer groups people tend to "develop" gender dysphoria at rates something like 20x the national average.
>While little research has been done on the impact shelters have on communities, the campaign cites one study done in Vancouver that found a sharp increase in thefts.
>However, a separate analysis, done by the Guardian last year, found that 11 sanctioned encampments in Portland and Seattle did not have this effect.
In 2008, an NYU researcher concluded that supportive housing in New York City did not negatively affect property values and that they actually increased in the five years after the facilities were established in the area.
Having all the homeless conveniently off the streets and in one building would probably increase the values because people mistakenly believe there are no homeless in that area.
A thriving tech economy has squeezed the San Francisco housing market, and like many cities on the west coast it is grappling with an overwhelming homelessness crisis. The number of homeless people has remained constant despite massive investments, and the new shelter in the Embarcadero was to be part of the cityâs promise to increase the number of shelter beds by 1,000. There are roughly 7,500 homeless residents in the city and more than 1,400 are waiting for temporary spots to open.
I like how they're acting like the homelessness issue totally isn't related to the permissive policies in the city where they hand out free methadone and literally let the homeless shit and sleep wherever they want to.
It's exactly the same shit (literally, human shit, in the street) in Portland. It's not shocking that people don't want to live next to a bunch of bums fucking in the street for drugs.
it works in other countries. but burgers, especially homeless burgers, and ESPECIALLY west coast homeless burgers are some of the most braindead cretins of our society. so of course it doesnt work here.
Even the nations where it does work, those nations still have a higher murder/crime rate than Burgerlandia for example some South American country who's name I can't remember.
Iâm sure japans actual murder rate is low but itâs artificially lowered by cops closing wrongful death cases and declaring many of them as suicides because they never want to admit people get murdered
Last time I was there was a couple of years ago (I used to live in the east bay). I was staying around market and drumm at the time and I came back from dinner with my wife to be treated with the scene of one homeless man giving another one a handjob in the doorway of a building about 40 feet from our hotel. The rest of the trip didn't go very much better.
My wife is from Australia, so I spent the majority of the time we were there saying, "Well it wasn't this bad when I was living around here..." it was pretty fucking embarrassing.
I lived on the edge of the tenderloin and would constantly see this one Jamaican/Islander dude who would walk around and loudly pretend to be r-slurred.
One day I pulled out a five and he went from âaaaaaaaauuuggggggggghhh ppoweeeoooeereaaaahhhâ to âhello good sirâ in about a half-second.

Yes, but the conservatards aren't hypocrites (well, on this issue, anyway) because they don't pretend to give a shit about taking care of the homeless the way the libtards do.
Yikes y'all, the lack of compassion here is just oof. I can't believe y'all could be so heartless. I mean sure I don't own property so home values don't affect me and my job as a mental laborer doesn't earn enough for me to even contribute via taxes and I don't live in this area so I'd get all the benefits of appearing to be a good person without having to contribute to the situation or deal with its consequences but this is still super icky. Do better.

Fact: Socioeconomic status is what determines crime rate.
Fact: Bringing people into your neighborhood with the lowest socioeconomic status doesnât increase the crime rate. In fact, it actually raises property value!
I know it's virtually impossible for it to ever happen, however in some mod world where it was possible for a city in America to do an outright massacre of the homeless it would be San Francisco. They're fucking horrid, they pass laws making it impossible to build housing then pay money to make sure they don't see the homeless population the built.
In this mad world they would argue its progressive as it would help lower the homeless rate among minorities or something.

No Uruguay who's murder rate is higher than Burgenland.
1 Velxon 2019-03-29
Portugal has decriminalized all drugs too esse and has a lower homicide rate
1 xlhat 2019-03-29
What was their murder rate before decriminalisation of all drugs ?
Japan, has a lower murder rate than Portugal and they haven't legalised all drugs.
Same for Singapore and Burkina Faso.

I'm not gonna look up murder rates of different countries and compare them on Reddit let alone on arr slash drÄma
