This is the most logical explanation. Most average non-internet addicted people do not go on anonymous social media for hours and there for would probably hate moderating a subreddit.
Even the average moderate social media user posts an image or likes some crap on Facebook of IG and dips, but people who spend tons of time on Reddit are an entirely different breed of people.
I mod a single fairly small gaming subreddit. I do 99.5% of the modding during my work day, and it's small enough that days go by where I don't do anything at all.
