Yes, technology makes people feel alone with being more in touch. But also: high student debt, delaying family life because of career choices (and high student debt), inability to make it on minimum wage, needing TWO incomes to live okay-ish, climate change deniers, vaccine deniers---there's a LOT going on.
A LOT.
All that stress adds up and people become cynical quickly. I've had 3 job changes in the last year, with each one paying only slightly more, and the stress multiplying at least 10x.
I didn't ever expect to be one of those that stopped caring about sex, but when life becomes more and more about survival--sex tends to get dropped a few pegs.
I masturbate because it's convenient. I have a girlfriend, but timing and scheduling sex becomes another chore, and she has her own work stresses--fuck it.
I wish it was as simple as "If we tone down the technology, things will get back to the 90s where you could bang, have partners, settle down eventually, and be alright on minimum wage."
It’s not just looks objectively, race comes into play as well. The white male ubermensch is seen as the standard attractive archetype. Everyone else has to go out of their way to date successfully: black men must appear extra nonaggressive, Asian men must appear excessively masculine, mestizo men must appear excessively intelligent, etc.
That thread is like a /r/DeadBedromms and /r/Braincels meetup. I blame video games. It's not a coincidence that with the rise of video games more and more people stopped getting laid.
seriously, I feel like 90% of my social issues would be fixed if there was a calm, relaxed place specifically for meeting people. I haven't met a new person in a non-work related context in probably 4 or 5 years.

Isn't it historically correct that without societal pressure only like 10% of men fuck right? Like this men not having sex isn't really an issue per se, it's humans returning to a more primal way of looking at sex since having sex isn't such a societal tabu anymore.

it's not rocket surgery to realize that the incels are generally right. it's their methods of coping with that fact that are fucked up
