Gearbox didnt fuck up anything, it's all 2K's fault.
2K decides where the game launches as you can see with the outer worlds, where the devs didn't even know about it when it got announced by 2K that the game will be a one year exclusive to the epic games store.
Seriousposting-wise I still cannot comprehend what's so hard about downloading another app on their PCs. Not to mention Steam is absolute garbage. Maybe if they gave it some actual competition with this Le Epic Shop, Valve would make Steam, idk, not garbage?

The only confirmed thing it's doing is reading some Steam files to pull your Steam friends and perhaps some other data and import them into Epic launcher, and doesn't ask for any consent or permission to do this. Some people got scared it's scanning their PC but that's probably just anticheat, it's hard to tell.
Other criticism I saw was lack of features like mod workshop, screenshots etc. but honestly who gives a shit? You don't need it, most people already complain that they need a launcher so if you have one why do you need useless functionality external apps do better (voice com, screenshots etc.)?
And even if all this bothers you, just don't play the fucking game. Skip a few AAA games and look around for indies, or older games, nobody's gonna die because they couldn't play a fucking game.
I can understand not wanting to install software they don't want to install. Fine. If that's how they feel, fine.
What I hate about these people is that "just don't play the game" isn't an option for them. They're such addicts. They were similarly furious at EA for a star wars thing, but 90% of them doing the bitching and downvoting went out and bought the game because they're chemically dependent on the serotonin rush they get from playing shitty AAA titles.
