Because someone trying to defend their unreasonably hated interests is just soooooo fucking funny. I'm only here for this post. Sorry kid, but I don't get off on laughing at other's expense so I'm going to gtfo of this degenerate cesspool asap. People wanna get rid of furries. Well how about places like this instead? The world would be infinitely better without drama. This sub is like the young people version of watching the Hallmark channel.
realistically future generations will be able to just maintain our storage structures or move the waste into yucca mountain 2.0 or whatever. I mean, it will be hard, but it'll be possible. It's just an engineering problem.
If civilization collapses, it's a whole different story, but we'd probably still be fine if we just avoided the death zone.
You'd have a better analogy if it involved storing the cum in paper cups in your closet, and if cum had various masturbation related uses beside just sitting there, and if it also shrunk to .1% of its volume after 50 years, and if every one of your ancestors will know about the cum and will be honor-bound to protect it.
Sure, but in letting the next generations deal with it is. They will almost certainly be more well-equipped in terms of engineering solutions and technology. It's not much of a stretch to say that they will probably have the industrial might required to move and store our nuclear waste.
It's a 12 year old tier take that we shouldn't use nuclear power because we can't dump the waste in a box and ignore it literally forever.
if civilization collapses im sure there'll be more to worry about than some retard digging through 3km of concrete and granite to get into the middle of a mountain

Theyre illegal in the US for some reason. Id remember but it was 3 mile island that pushed the legislation through i think. Basically we cant build breeder reactors in the US which would bring radioactive waste levels down to nearly nothing. .2% of total waste, and only for about 50 years. Its downside is needing Uranium deposits but its way better than coal.
Actually we should be able to use thorium which is significantly more plentiful in msr reactors. I dont think it was ever outlawed, they had a working test bed in the sixties. Uranium proved to be more efficient thus we went with that option and basically forgot about thorium again until recently
"nuclear waste" is a made up term by the Sierra Club and anti-nuclear lobby.
The correct term is spent fuel. Look up what France does with its nuclear cycle. Spent Fuel is recycled and the very minimal long lived by byproducts are turned into glass and can be safely stored in a building smaller than a gymnasium.
I can't trust America to do anything right. Let alone something french.
That's compassion talk. We throw a few peanuts at problems we know would take a thousand and pretend we made a difference. Every single election cycle.
Seriously though, I’m not even a burger and it’s absolutely hilarious to hear people saying America is done or losing influence or or or or for the 100th year in a row now.

Fucking our future generations is stupid and short sighted.
Isn't this what is being claimed we are doing now? That the world is ending in 100 years? How about we go for the risk of a small area being contaminated for a million years, over the world being destroyed?

It shows a true lack of sincerity when the left doesn't advocate for the most obvious and straight forward methods of abating climate change.
Instead California passes a law that forces all new homeowners to buy solar. Which is definitely not a racketeering system legalized by politicians paid off by solar companies.
And our power companies move "peak" power time (the times where you pay extra for using power) from like mid day, to the night, so they can fuck you when your solar isn't working.
Wait are you telling me that executing all the staff at a nuclear plant who know how the reactor functions and replacing them with dumbass village folk isnt the best way to ensure maximum efficiency?
I didn't actually read it. I just scrolled down until I found some factoids that conformed to my priors. Also I guarantee the "hazard pay" at a Chinese manganese mine is less than you're imagining.

I do too. Here's my problem cmv:
We can't build vessels for waste out of current known materials that won't fail in the future.
Fucking our future generations is stupid and short sighted.
1 EyeseeFN 2019-04-06
So what's the answer to end fossil fuels?
1 Curbside_dental 2019-04-06
We can't yet. That doesn't mean discontinue research or implementation of viable methods.
1 EyeseeFN 2019-04-06
Ironic.
1 Tzar-Romulus 2019-04-06
Lmao that's a problem for future generations
1 QuoViritas 2019-04-06
Indeed. Let those poor bastards figure it out.
1 ManBearFridge 2019-04-06
We are currently fucking our generation over with carbon emissions.

We can't just keep piling up radioactive trash. We need a solution beyond hiding your cumsock behind the bed.

Enshrining the cum isn't a long term solution though.

The infamous "cumbox" begs to differ. Truly reddit's finest moment.
1 ClaireBear1123 2019-04-06
Why not? It's not very much trash. Just bury it forever, problem solved.

We've got the technology to build msr reactors which would solve a lot of these issues
1 Curbside_dental 2019-04-06
We should do that.

Just bury it smooth brain. Yucca mountain should have been built decades ago.
1 Curbside_dental 2019-04-06
Yeah no shit, but it hasn't. That's part of the problem.
1 LightUmbra 2019-04-06
Correct the entire problem is NIMBYs who refuse anything that would actually work because they have a single digit brain cell count.
1 Doctor-Pavel 2019-04-06
The NUMBY's who don't want the Keystone Pipeline seem to know what's up though
1 LightUmbra 2019-04-06

1 voodoo_onion 2019-04-06
hell yeah, load my b*slur elon up with that stuff, tell him to launch it at mars. If it makes it he can use it for whatever later.
1 Thatlookedlikeithurt 2019-04-06
We can always move the waste from one vessel to the other bro. Unless you are talking about some retarded end of the world situation.
1 CCAlkie 2019-04-06
I am unironically interested in this. Does this mean we will never get to the point that we can house them/dispose of them properly?
And why the fuck do reps support ne but dems are against it?
Like it just seems like a really good idea to start using ne. Clean as shit (during production), and efficient. Waste is the main drawback.

Shoot that shit into space
Or just bury it so far underground nobody will ever find it.
Or pitch it into the Marianas Trench. Maybe the mutant fish will develop their own civilization and revere us as gods of the surface
Just spitballin’

Leftoids don’t believe in biology or economics. Rightoids don’t believe in climate science. Baste centrists believe in all of the above.
Checkmate partisancels 😎
1 Rentokill_boy 2019-04-06
left wing anti-nuclear activists bear a direct responsibility for climate change due to their reactionary hysterics in the 70s
Even when the boomers were part of a young, trendy hippy counterculture they were still being fuckin boomers
1 OniTan 2019-04-06
Right wingers who support oil and coal are also opposed to nuclear, though.
1 Awesometom100 2019-04-06
This is hilariously untrue, repubs are the ones always trying to push more nuclear funding.
1 OniTan 2019-04-06
They want more oil drilling and coal mining. Which nuclear power would render obsolete.
1 Awesometom100 2019-04-06
You can have more than two kinds of energy though.
1 OniTan 2019-04-06
Except oil and coal will cause global warming and nuclear won't. That's the whole point.
1 Anus_of_Aeneas 2019-04-06
47% of republicans want more emphasis on nuclear power compared to 24% of democrats. https://news.gallup.com/poll/182180/support-nuclear-energy.aspx
1 OniTan 2019-04-06
So 53% don't want it. Like I said.
