Yeah, that sounds really bad, but in determining whether or not he’s a sociopath it’s worth noting that the first four are pretty much the accepted practice in dogfighting. The last one is a tad unconventional, but still pretty par the course.

That’s not quite the point I was starting to go for, but I was lazy. You can call them anything and I’ll agree, the sociopath angle is just what I have trouble with. I think that should be restricted to diagnosis based on interactions with other humans. More likely to have those tendencies? Absolutely, depending on context animal abuse is a red flag. To assume that label based on treatment of animals the argument can get kind of murky quickly.

I get where you're coming from. I don't think a hunter or trapper is necessarily a sociopath because they kill and maim animals, but I think it's there's difference in degree of cruelty between hunting an animal quickly for it's meat and torturing an animal then killing it with your bare hands because it lost you money

Dogfighting, in the Western developed world, is for sure degrees more concerning than any other example. I just imagine a scenario where old Farmer Jones is labeled a sociopath because Tyson bullied him into building a mega coop or whatever, and that example is probably closer to this one.
