Related question, what do you guys think of The Dark Knight? 90% of Capeshit is just decently made fluff, and Nolan is overhyped as being "greatest director ever" by people who've only ever seen blockbuster fluff, but the dude is still an intelligent filmmaker and probably the smartest person making blockbusters (low bar to pass, I know).

IMO it's a genuinely intelligent film and has great thematic heft, plus much of the filmmaking is excels from a technical aspect (especially the editing). I'm curious to see what people who don't build their identity around watching spadex-clad men punch underdeveloped bad guys think, does it live up to the hype or am I a manboy beta faggot capeshitter?

Dark Knight is one of the most incredible movies of all time the first time you watch it, the second time around almost all the drama falls apart as you realise how much of it was artificial suspense.

The moment you start thinking and start asking questions about character motivations (yes, not just the Joker) then a lot of the movie falls apart. Luckily it's just capeshit so the first viewing is all that matters, but there were pretty big problems in the formula that weren't apparent until The Dark Knight Rises hit.
