It's not really misleading in that it highlights height difference in the population are much smaller than difference in width.

As you pointed out, yes, people who are 6'2 are among the top percentiles, yet they only deviate 4" from the average, which is not enough to cause much issues in sizing. This means that realistically, excessive height is simply not a problem any sizable (Pun intended) part of the population will face, so it doesn't make much sense to base sizing on that.

That these guys are very far from the average person on a bell curve is irrelevant if they can still use the average person's clothes without problems because, as I explained, they are just not that much taller when using raw measurements, which is what actually matters when discussing whether clothes fit or not.
