Another day, another redditor wanting to see all of le dumb people die off. If we set the cut off at "those who understand evolution", he would be left behind with all of the failures.
For one, natural selection does exist and it's what keeps incels up at night. Also, lol @ his claim that animals know the species would be doomed if their weak children survived.
we are becoming bad survivors though, just not in a way that dude understands it. Ever since we started agriculture, there hasn't been a significant selection pressure for good eyesight. Someone with bad eyesight is not less likely to leave progeny behind. Of course, this "problem" only exists because humans were smart enough to change their environment.
Yes, and that same agricultural revolution led to a society that can produce spectacles for anyone who can afford them, including nerds who could otherwise died in childhood but who instead improved our collective lot.
What the unabrainlet didn't realize is that this shit started 1000s of years before the industrial revolution. If anything it ended the feudal age and serfdom.
In all reality eventually humans will be genetically engineered, and not just the rich. So basically this is just typical cracker ass cracker talk where some middle class mediocre mayo looks at IQ statistics to make himself feel better while having accomplished nothing, or has the audacity to assume he deserves to live more than you do because he "worked hard" to be born to middle class mayos, get his degreem and end up managing a payless shoe store.
Once CRISPR gets off the ground, I can see the Feds giving people subsidies to have their genomes scanned for genetic diseases like Sickle cell, Huntington's, Tay-sachs, and having them removed from their germ line so whatever kids they have will never have the disease. That's the most objective natural selection I can think of.
China is already running genetic experiments using CRISPR. By the time the west wakes up to this shit china will already have ubermench born not out of superior cloth but of genetic manipulation.
We should let those German chaps bring back eugenics. Just the research part mind you, no solutions or actually doing things. Just generate a discussion.
Eugenics is one of those things that isn't inherently a bad idea but is so far incompatible with human nature. Every time, people use it to enforce their prejudices instead of bettering humanity.
This is so stupid I don't know what to say. What other animal would literally consider killing itself off to make evolution work better? Literally that would be a failure of evolution. The objective of natural selection is survival, not strength. If other animals could find ways of compensating for their natural flaws, they would do it and grow more numerous. Only humans literally consider handicapping themselves because evolution apparently. We humans have developed knowledge, we have the capability for rapid self evolution, we don't have to go by the method of animals, where they just mutate randomly and see whether or not they die. Why would we throw away our greatest benefit as a species?

"Internalized misogynist" and "prude" are the new slurs for women with standards and boundaries. Don't let newspeak fool you. ;)

If we did eugenics Reddit would cease to exist

It goes with the territory. I've never seen anyone complain about natural selection that had more than a 3rd grade understanding of evolution.

The redditor just agrees with whatever sounds best. Especially if it's counterintuitive.

The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

Not in India which has a population of 1.3 billion and growing. No matter what, you will get arranged married here and be expected to produce 2 kids.
Natural selection is dead in India and anywhere else arranged marriages exist.

The scientist that did the crisper experiment had been disappeared. It was not approved by the government... what he did was extremely irresponsible.
1 Mixmeister711 2019-04-29
He was disappeared because he was stupid enough to make it public and the western backlash made China lose face.

Do you really even need natural selection when you’re at the top? Our species isn’t in a danger. When chimps start doing algebra I’ll worry.
1 Van-Diemen 2019-04-29
Unironically there is nothing wrong with eugenics, just another thing along with pagan LARPing and that one moustache that Hitler ruined.
1 GodOfDarknessWine 2019-04-29
I hated them more for giving paganism a bad name. I prefer paganism to monotheism.
Make Greek Mythology Great Again! Then r/Drama can get its own Band of Thebes and all the bussy we want.

Survival isn't a game. I don't suggest to play it for humans are fucking horrifying animals. These kids can't comprehend what jolly good age we have.
1 AugustinesBitchBoy 2019-04-29
Making ethical claims based on a naive understanding of evolution is one of the most reddit things I’ve ever seen. This should surprise no one.
