I binged the first two seasons thought "wow that was great" then read all the books. I watched the third season in the background after it aired and there were a bunch of minor changes that annoyed me. So I haven't watched the show since then and at this point it's been so long without a book that I don't even care anymore

I wasn’t actually bothered by the way the Night King was killed. What bothered me was that the show made the Others mindless automatons whose only goal is DEATH, and that nothing happened in this episode that was unpredictable in a thematically-satisfying way.
