Hating on popular things is very popular (ironic). People just feel a sense of pride when they’re “unique” by disliking a popular thing. I actually think that on some level we all do it. If something people are neutral towards gets incredibly popular, we end up having a visceral reaction towards the popularity we don’t understand.
