My take is automation will not bring new prosperity. It will merely widen the wealth gap. Lawmakers will never legislate that amount of income redistribution as the richer the rich get, the more power they'll have on individual lawmakers. This will result in a revolt in the next 100 years, and the US dollar will fall as the global petro-currency in favor of a new form that isn't under the control of a democratic power during this time. Infighting and corruption will only increase, as there's no way to legislate out of this crisis, and the pie for Americans will only be smaller at that point and selfishness across the board becomes rampant out of panic.
