a lot of them are the alt-right mirror images of our tankie edgelord teens, and a lot of people there are broken, toxic people and their parasites who exploit and humiliate them for sociopathic fun
If they meant anything other than Harber Parter I’d be on board. Also young adult fiction needs to have a moratorium on publication for like a decade. There’s prob 30 shitty YA novels for every one English-literate youth in the world at this point, we don’t need more.
I honestly didn’t realize other people cared so much about what other people are reading until I started using reddit. I’ve never had anyone judge me (or I’ve never cared enough to notice people judging me) about what I read.
I’ve read Harry Potter every year since middle school. I reread the same four book series over and over because I like them. A good chunk of my personal library is picture books and children’s novels, many of which I asked for for Christmas (I teach elementary school, but I keep them for myself and read them because I like them).
This dude is reading picture books.
I’ll never understand why people get so worked up about other people’s personal preferences.
It's okay to read Harry Potter. You should just expand and read other things too. Like the works of John Bellairs and the magnificent novel Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell. Don't just read another book: READ MORE BOOKS.

There are 18,954 words on the linked page. That's the length of a novelette or several short stories that AREN'T Harry Potter.

If you're antisocial psycho who can't bear the tinniest of slights, it's mandatory.

It's kinda creepy for adults to read YA novels. They're pretty much all about teenaged sex and angst. Really cringey shit.
