I only follow the patriarchal aspects of Islam. Not the aspects that make you a cuck e.g. Abstaining from womanising, penetrating a sweet trap virgin ass and lowering your gaze.
Despite being unfairly labeled as a cryptohate subreddit, /r/drama is a peaceful place of people who enjoy bussy. Like the majestic pibble we rise above those who would say we are hateful.
Reddit is trapped in the corner. People are already itching to find a new site. Both the left and right are butthurt. I think there will be a digg v4-like exodus once Reddit tries to monetize.
One day major tech companies will stop being bag holders for mature start ups trying to cash out. Maybe. Or they can afford 9 shitty acquisitions for every 1 Instagram forever.
There's even a fucking Wikipedia for all the shit Google hoovered up
Here's what we do, no censorship, reddit clone, make a button to exclude politics subs from your feed. That's all they have to do. A site like this backed from someone like elon musk would crush reddit overnight.
I don't see it coming. The majority of reddit users don't care much about the politics. I personally found old, every thing goes reddit more entertaining, but the crackdown on "offensive" subs doesn't change how smaller hobby/interest communities work.
It works better in 4chan because everyone's anonymous meaning no celebrity culture forms and no karma means people are more willing to put forth dissenting opinions.
You're just here whining in this sub because larger-reddit doesn't care about your racism, nutty puritan bullshit, guns, coal mines, walls, dumb orange guys, and so forth.
Is this guy using a different site than me? Everything on Reddit revolves around this. Fucking r/drama revolves around this.
There is a difference between profit and revenue and I wouldn't know at the top of my head what kind of numbers they would be. To me the websites finances aren't as much a concern because reddit will always go to its parent company and owners for support. To me, that's more of a factor whether or not reddit thrives or dies if they decide they want the website more sanitized to appeal to advertisers.
Sad part is, people like the new Reddit. Some retards actually prefer the new layout.
I've only heard the opposite. Then again, reddit probably has more mobile active readers than desktop.
It’s in the red. The shift to try and monetize means they have to begin prioritizing how to make money, which means the new UI, stable content, stable user base.
The problem is the site was founded on libertarianesque ideas. Which is why fatpeoplehate, jailbait, cringeanarchy, and so many more, could exist. And why the users could mean ping, say stupid shit without suspension, and frolic autistically. This isn’t a ‘muh frozen peaches’ issue, it’s what Reddit was about. We will come back to this.
Now they’re on a hiring rampage to try and cover the holes from the site being massive. Anti-Evil Team costs money. Overhead in SF is horrendous, so the office overhead has to be murder. Overhead from employee upkeep, keeping your CEO/CFO happy, etc. It adds up.
Paying for it: reddit gold didn’t cover it so they restructured how they get money directly from the plebs. They’re trying to get advertisers on board. Notice the surge in guerrilla advertising over the last couple years? That’s not a coincidence. You know those powermods we love to mock? Some of them work in advertisement monetization. Just a hunch but I suspect they bring Reddit some money, thus their golden status.
Going back to the problem: suspending naughty users means your traffic decreases. Not suspending naughty users means feefees get hurt and good users leave. Or become naughty and feed into the cycle. Either way, unstable population.
The naughty people also hurt new subscribers. T_D on the front page is a PR nightmare. So is CTH or drama. Politics, news, funny, aww, lgbt, all mainstream and ‘harmless’. That’s how you bring people in.
But the end result is the old subscribers teach the new ones about the more libertarianesque culture. I’d be interested in knowing how many new politics subscribers end up in the arms of socialism or similar. Or how many hear the siren’s call of TD.
And then the new subscribers slowly produce bad actors. And the cycle carries on. With accounts readily made so bad actors can easily come back into the fold.
I would be amazed if the company is breaking even. Between burning money on the hotness of the UI, the overhead and upkeep of the paid minions, and the costs of monitoring the subscribers, they’re likely hemorrhaging money. The restructuring of the gold system was the cue that something was not right.
There's paid advertisement on reddit, in the sense that companies pay upvote farms to upvote their content, but if seen no prove of reddit profiting from it. Besides some retards screeching when gallowboob posts something showing a company's logo.
Anti-Evil Team costs money. Overhead in SF is horrendous, so the office overhead has to be murder. Overhead from employee upkeep, keeping your CEO/CFO happy, etc. It adds up.
Shit I didn't know that it cost so much. I just assumed that it was a couple of people.
Notice the surge in guerrilla advertising
Fuck, spot on.
Which is why fatpeoplehate, jailbait, cringeanarchy, and so many more, could exist. And why the users could mean ping, say stupid shit without suspension, and frolic autistically. This isn’t a ‘muh frozen peaches’ issue, it’s what Reddit was about.
Last I heard it’s at least 230 people. Based in San Francisco.
I have an office in SF and monthly rent, not counting utilities, support staff costs, parking, etc, is five digits. And my office only has 20 people in it.
Plus remember, of all the social networks, Reddit has the lowest income user base. Monetizing most of these people is like wringing water from a rock.
Outsourcing is shit. My brother owns his own software company and tried outsourcing. It was cheaper to move the company to another state with lower overhead. The costs of managing your outsourced labor are too high.
The AntiEvil team is outsourced in part to Ireland. But that’s still expensive.
source? could be. but I'm pretty sure the "value per user" depends on how eagerly the users click on ads, aka how much money they'll spend if you advertise, rather than on how much money they have.
Oh cool it’s the perennial “go make your own platform if you don’t like your free speech rights being violated” anti-white canard that assholes like yourself trot out at any opportunity. Feeling smug about propagating the formula like a good little subservient weasel?
Here’s the thing, and you already know this no doubt:
reddit and other sites of this scale are essentially the modern replacement of the public square
the irony of leftists arguing in favour of mega corporations censoring speech and thereby oppressing marginalized communities is lost on you
we can’t start our own platforms because we get banned from hosts, registrars, payment processors, and every other reasonable service you can try to use to communicate to a large group online without being a super-nerd
But sure, relax smug in your comfortable position where you don’t think any of us are old enough to have made the migration from Digg (or from Slashdot to Kuro5hin to Everything2 to Digg...); bask in your sense of being on the side of history that the establishment has declared to be “right”, you rebel you. I’m sure that smugness is going to feel fantastic when a refugee rapes your daughter.
I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging I need pinging

Well, tough shit. If you want your ideas to gain traction among a base that's 70% non-republican, male, 18-24, 'bay area' techie-types, you might have to put in some more effort to surmount that.
And reddit is not 'on its last legs'. They're basically on their way to making $100mil a year just on ads:
Hint: Your butthurt, low-grade politicking feeds much of that.
How about stop being a disingenuous baby and accept what's what: the problem is YOU.
Save your 'Digg2.0' bullshit, too. We both know you're not old enough for that.
E: And here's a challenge: Find me a genuine and inarguable bot or astroturfing account. You cannot. I can, mind you. Not really anyone here, though. Not one of you.
You're just here whining in this sub because larger-reddit doesn't care about your racism, nutty puritan bullshit, guns, coal mines, walls, dumb orange guys, and so forth. Technically you can already do that. The problem is if you don't show up they find you bringing their political baggage with them.

I don't see it coming. The majority of reddit users don't care much about the politics. I personally found old, every thing goes reddit more entertaining, but the crackdown on "offensive" subs doesn't change how smaller hobby/interest communities work.
1 Tzar-Romulus 2019-05-15
Reddit is only really good for hobby/videogame subreddits. Anything political becomes an echo chamber.
1 sakfad 2019-05-15
It would be the same for any reddit like website. Open debate on the Internet is a meme.
1 Tzar-Romulus 2019-05-15

Yeah. Too bad 4chan is filled with autists.

1 sakfad 2019-05-15
> 4chan is a good place to discuss politics
That's the most retarded take. You sound like those redditors talking about why 4chan is superior, but they're still here. 🤔
1 Tzar-Romulus 2019-05-15
I said it was better for discussing politics. I like celebrity culture because I'm a narcissist so I'm not leaving Reddit.
1 sakfad 2019-05-15
4chan is a good place to discuss politics is still a retarded idea.
1 autism_causes_autism 2019-05-15
He literally never said good. He said better, you autist.

Reddit is better though. 4chan has /pol/, reddit has unpartisan subs like /r/politics.
