Here's an example from my own WIP also:

She compared it to a house filled with mold spores, and talked about how much better life is for everyone when the mold spores are released. The social worker didn't have a talent for metaphors, but Eden knew what she was trying to say. It wasn't the first time someone had said something like that to her. What she couldn't bring herself to tell the social worker was that removing the mold spores can't undo the long-term damage they can do to your lungs and your body. Removing the mold spores can't undo the fact that your dog died with his lungs filled with mold, coughing and sputtering as he tried and failed to take in air.
“I guess you're right,” Yuri said.
“That doesn't make you feel better,” Eden said. It was more a statement than a question.
“It's sad,” Yuri said, “but sad things have a place too. You can't just avoid sad things. They're a part of life.”
