I enjoyed Murder Mountain. It's a short docuseries about black market pot farmers in California.

Ayyye, I worked near there in Alderpoint in 2014

Was it pretty intense? The area reminds me of some smaller areas in Alaska tbh

its California so there was some meth up there but it wasnt the worst mountain I've worked on. The area wasnt that bad because there weren't a bunch of cartel farms, triad farms or other international gang run farms. If you kept to your own people didnt fuck with you. The place I worked also had a no guns policy and was owned by old hippy dudes.

Theres a place called the Trinity Pines that's like Alderpoint but 10x worse because of all the international gangs. It's been years since I've been up there but it's the place the cops dont go unless they're kitted out in body armor and assault rifles. Each farm is about an acre and a half and the plots are right on top of eachother. I swear theres thousands of Chinese and vietnamese people up there living it hovels. At night it sounds like a war zone because pretty much every farm is shooting rounds in the air to let robbers know that they're vigilant, I've never heard so many fully automatic weapons. There was packs of pitbulls wandering the mountains because growers would buy dogs from the pound, use them for the summer then leave them up there when they vacate in the winter. I was working for the same group of old hippy dudes who had a no gun policy but me and my friend who got me a job ended up buying a handgun because of the dog situation.

There was a small town called Hayfork near by, like maybe a 12mile ride from the base of the mountain. At the grocery store in town theres a bulletin board for missing people that's so full youd think 100s of thousands of people live there. At one point that year my buddy and I were on our way to town to pick up pizzas for all the trimmers when this French Canadian girl came running out of the woods. Apparently shed been handcuffed to a table and forced to work under gun point, raped by neo nazis and was only able to escape when they released her to take a piss and she ran. We dropped her at the hospital, did some shopping then came back to check on her. The police were there but didnt deem like they wanted to pursue it and didnt ask where exactly we picked her up or anything

Good thing that you didn't have too much trouble there. Old hippy guys are the best.

Sucks for that one girl and all those missing people though.

Not sure about the Pines but since they changed the laws in 2018 a lot has changed in the growing scene all over Ca. They went from barely enforcing criminal laws to pushing the zoning laws really hard. It used to be that if you grew 99 plants or under on private property you were fine, cops wouldn't bother you. Now if you don't have a permit to grow, your septic isnt permitted, land clearings aren't permitted, greenhouses, etc you're going to get at least a $1k a day fine for each infraction. Each county flies helicopters on a regular basis to record evidence and each country has beefed up code enforcement who serve the fines. Because of that, a large percentage of the riffraff/criminal element quit growing which has caused demand to skyrocket. I lost my farm in a fire last year so I've been working brokerage and acquisition for a co-op of dispensaries. This time last year the price of a strain of decent outdoor grown weed was going for $500-650, it's now going for $1200 to $1500 and isnt showing any signs of normalising.

That fucking sucks.

The Order was a nice contemporary take on the Twilight saga.

I thought everyone had unsubscribed from it at one point or another to protest something or other from either side of politics.

I re-watched Iron Man 2 because watching anything produced by Netflix is like nails on chalkboard.

Watch The Crown if you want to be reminded of how much better off a certain island was under a certain Lord Protector.

I've been watching Letterkenny on Hulu which is fucking hilarious. Also the BBC(nit big black cock) show Taboo which is great
