Ya, it was honestly embarrassing for me in France. I was visiting a foreign country and they spoke my language better than me whereas I spoke their language at a kindergarten level.

My buddy that knew a little French kept trying to order in French and the waiters would just say “don’t worry I speak English” lol

This is why I at least try to English-maxx. Its bad enough not knowing other languages, let alone not perfectly knowing your native language.

I've been in France a few different times and I have been lucky enough to only need help a couple times and each time someone bilingual was there to help me. One time I was out camping by Omaha Beach and nobody at the camping place spoke a lick of English, but I was able to point and gesture and get my payment and campsite taken care of.

Either way you'd have to be a damn idiot if you planned on moving to France to just rely forever on English.

Same with America and spanish.
