I'd say it's because you have to shave more often and overall have your shit together more to be clean-shaved, but having a beard is literaly 0 effort.
A shit beard requires zero effort. While overstylized beards look fucking retarded, it doesn't mean people should let it just grow out like a fucking nest, either. While having a maintained beard is less maintenance than clean shaving, it still takes some level of effort to not look like shit.
