The worse parts of the DMV. DC itself is a crime-ridden shithole because of all the blacks and Hispanics, kind of leaks over to other parts of the area. Lived just outside a town called Georgetown South, which is practically owned by MS13. Even found a body in the bushes once. And it's not even the worst place I've been, just the worst I've actually lived in for an extended period. Richmond VA has some pretty bad parts I've been around in as well, though not for super long, and when I was a kid I was in Greensboro NC for a while too. What they all had in common was a lot of theft, a huge gang presence, and a lot of murder. Virtually everyone in the actual neighborhoods themselves was indeed a gang banger.
I moved away and now live in a 90% white small city, it's night and day, so nice here, people just leave shit unlocked and whatnot, people don't get attacked, you don't see small groups of hoodlums all over the place.
Yeah DC has some mad rough parts still. My city has gotten much better last few years, but there was a time in my youth it would battle DC, Baltimore, Detroit, Newark, and East St. Louis for "murder capital of the US." The second worst area of my city was literally a 2 minute walk. Shit stayed there though, thank god.
For real though, sounds like you bounced around and that's probably why we have different perspective. I have deep roots in my city so a lot of people already know me, so I then get told on who to see (like friends of friends). Probably how I met a super wide group of people that happen to live in less than ideal spots. Who knows though.

I did move around a lot, so it would make sense for our perspectives to be different. I didn't stick around enough to get to know the people there. DC is the only one of those places I've been as an adult, the others I didn't have much choice in, but I saw the violence and whatnot so I opted to just get out ASAP. It all did make me fairly prejudiced, used to be more of an SJW-type before I really went out and saw DC for myself. Trying to shift my view back that way a little bit, helps that despite all the worst people I met being black or Hispanic, the best I met were as well.

Used to DJ for a "club" called Above Zest, it's probably shut down by now, what it really was was a little loft above a dentist's office that this Syrian guy bought and wanted to turn into a night club. But he was in the shit part of town, and had no business sense whatsoever, so it failed. Opening night not a single person stepped foot inside, lol. But it was in the part of town where there were always police with their lights on dealing with some shit and the bathrooms were all locked up. There were just drug deals out in the open and whatnot. That's the part of DC people always talk about when they talk about how bad DC is.

Richmond VA has some pretty bad parts I've been around in as well, though not for super long, and when I was a kid I was in Greensboro NC for a while too. What they all had in common was a lot of theft, a huge gang presence, and a lot of murder. Virtually everyone in the actual neighborhoods themselves was indeed a gang banger.
I moved away and now live in a 90% white small city, it's night and day, so nice here, people just leave shit unlocked and whatnot, people don't get attacked, you don't see small groups of hoodlums all over the place.

Yeah DC has some mad rough parts still. My city has gotten much better last few years, but there was a time in my youth it would battle DC, Baltimore, Detroit, Newark, and East St. Louis for "murder capital of the US." The second worst area of my city was literally a 2 minute walk. Shit stayed there though, thank god.
For real though, sounds like you bounced around and that's probably why we have different perspective. I have deep roots in my city so a lot of people already know me, so I then get told on who to see (like friends of friends). Probably how I met a super wide group of people that happen to live in less than ideal spots. Who knows though.

I did move around a lot, so it would make sense for our perspectives to be different. I didn't stick around enough to get to know the people there. DC is the only one of those places I've been as an adult, the others I didn't have much choice in, but I saw the violence and whatnot so I opted to just get out ASAP. It all did make me fairly prejudiced, used to be more of an SJW-type before I really went out and saw DC for myself. Trying to shift my view back that way a little bit, helps that despite all the worst people I met being black or Hispanic, the best I met were as well.

Have you been in DC? I acknowledge there are different parts of DC with different levels of crime, but the parts I've been to outside of when I went as a tourist were shit. Used to DJ for a "club" called Above Zest, it's probably shut down by now, what it really was was a little loft above a dentist's office that this Syrian guy bought and wanted to turn into a night club. But he was in the shit part of town, and had no business sense whatsoever, so it failed. Opening night not a single person stepped foot inside, lol. But it was in the part of town where there were always police with their lights on dealing with some shit and the bathrooms were all locked up. There were just drug deals out in the open and whatnot. That's the part of DC people always talk about when they talk about how bad DC is.
You're right that I have never lived in DC, though. I lived in the shitty part of Northern VA. As I said, Georgetown South in Manassas is where I was when I was there. Strange mix of affluent and ghetto in that general area, but the place had an extremely bad reputation all over town, and living there it was plain to see why.

Pretty much. Got it for pretty much free (iirc like $200) because the Solenoid was no good on it. Had to pop the hood and make the connection physically with a screwdriver to start it. Ended up wiring a bypass by drilling through the firewall to a button switch in the ashtray.
