They are at risk of cardiac disease, and most of them develop Alzheimer's at a very young age (40-50 years old). While they can live joyful lives, they are almost always a burden on their surroundings, and will never be able to live independently. And this is for the milder cases. Extreme downies are wheelchair bound and barely able to communicate.
Aborting downies is absolutely ethical to do. Besides, it's just a lump of cells, so why shouldn't a woman have the right to remove it?
