My wife interviewed a bunch of people for an assistants position yesterday. Half the applicants were masters level even though position didn't have an educational requirement. The position paid $15/hr.
Imagine not understanding that job is supposed to be a stepping stone to a real career.
Fucking. Honestly. I have a BS in comp sci and I started at $12/hour, worked my way up to $25/hour, and am on track to $36/hour in the Fall. Your degree doesn’t guarantee you shit. Earn it.

I'm a retarded Idahoan with 1 year of college and I make twice that and only work 6 months out of the year. It never even began for studentloandebtcels
I dont understand how people cannot get jobs above minimum wage.
For the last 5ish years I worked at A FUCKING MOVING COMPANY with zero higher education making $25/hour on paper but more realistically $35/hour because my boss would add typically 10 hours a week to my check that I didn't work because it wasn't normally full time hours. For example I'd get 25 hours but my check would be 35. I'd work 30 hours but my check would be for 40 hours.
A few months ago I decided to leave that and started as an electrician apprentice. I am being paid $20/hour with zero education and zero electric experience. He is paying for me to go to school 2 nights a week for the next 4 years to get my journeyman electrician license. By the time I graduate with that I will be at $45/hour or so easily.
Again, zero college. I dont understand why people would work for minimum wage. There are jobs all over the place in trades cumming all over themselves to find bodies to fill positions starting at $20 with no experience needed. Literally all you have to do is not be retarded and willing to work hard. Trades cannot find enough warm bodies who are willing to work.

For real, one issue with Masters’ degrees is that you need to weed the children from the adults.
Just because you have a degree doesn’t mean you’ll be good at a job.

1 MangoAtrocity 2019-06-25
I would have loved to have made $15/hour before I got my CS degree. I was out there struggling for $8.50/hour and working my way up to $12/hour.
