Pretty good article but the author doesn't consider that mental health conditions are on the rise in the West and other industralized nations/cultures due to social and cultural factors as well. We're medicalizing normal displays of emotion but we're also getting sicker because of things like social isolation, online social comparison, job insecurity, high expectations and attitudes towards failure, glorification and reinforcement of mental illness in youth culture, etc.
