I'd buy a new (used) car and keep the other $4,000 in the bank.
Also, reading the article, seems like Yang's idea is dumber than it seems. UBI will be given to everyone regardless of income. The frick? Give it to everyone below the poverty line or something, don't give Bill Gates the same $12,000 and Hobo Joe.
The idea is to incentivise working still, where currently you lose government benefits when above a certain income so some people try to stay below that income. Yang's proposal incentivises people to work and not get stuck in the welfare trap.
That makes sense. Reminds me that I need to actually look into working 1 day less so that I can get free health insurance, I think I'm just slightly above the threshold for all that shit.
>as i already live below my means i just add the money to the money i put in an index fund each month
>literally no change in lifestyle but my retirement gets slightly more secure
>everybody SEETHES because not only am i boring but the yangbux don't have the intended affect of stimulating the economy or helping someone living paycheck to paycheck.
The person who wins could hold quite a bit of power over Yang and UBI as a concept. You could demand under the table payoffs to not turn it into a farce
This is more like a viral advertising campaign than paying voters. It’s likely legal, especially considering he makes sure to say that “you don’t need to support or vote for his campaign, only follow him on twitter and retweet his tweet.”

One winner doesn't seem so universal to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

It's an early access promo, man.

No vote pledge, only retweet and follow on twitter. Vote pledge is illegal.

The seems like it could be illegal. I feel like federal election rules don't take to kindly to handing out cash to potential voters.
1 ManBearFridge 2019-06-25
Technically it's for campaign advertising, but I was wondering the legality myself.
1 throwaway_at_ 2019-06-25
Not illegal, supporting campaign not required, just following on twitter. This is viral marketing.
1 ManBearFridge 2019-06-25
Viral marketing for a campaign involving cash prizes.

This is 100% just good viral marketing.

"random" user who "qualifies" and is definitely not going to be heavily screened to make sure they don't make UBI look retarded
