Tombstone is the all time greatest western flick

3:10 to Yuma is okay but if you mention any Clint Eastwood behind apart from MAYBE Unforgiven

3:10 had a great cast and some amazing direction. But how can any of that compare to Val Kilmer in his prime being a TB-riddled humble psychopath? Or the perfect combination of gunplay, romance, and world building?

The remake?? lol

Obviously, because nobody gives a fuck about the first 2 times it was made

People that like westerns do. The remake is fucking terrible. Great cast but an idiot director who doesn't know what he's doing. He completely butchered the story into some kind of explodey blockbuster.

He has Bale and Crowe, two master of the understated working in the movie but he has to add Ben Foster with his overacting, scenery chewing psycho act he plays in every single movie. Because he knows the type of wetbrains who like this movie also like capeshit and only know about Shane because of capeshit.

And it was only made once time before and that movie is a mastepiece. Go watch another Avengers movie.

Oh I see you actually unironically like Glenn Ford don't you, boomer? I bet you think John Wayne was a good actor too

No I like good movies. Lemme guess you really love Tarantino and think Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies ever as well.

How many comic book character action figures do you have in your room?

Shawshank is one of the most boring wastes of time I've ever seen and I'm not a downy so I don't watch capeshit. You're slightly right though. I don't watch a ton of westerns, I'm a horror faggot. Give me a Vincent Price or Boris Karloff over that faggot Glenn Ford 100x over

Vincent Price's best movie isn't even a horror movie.

I know it's just a TV show but The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo still counts

I'm your huckleberry

Why, DrunkenRecidist, looks like someone just walked over your grave

Yep

Good taste. You have my blessing

Imagine loving laudanum addicted foid lmao

all the Eastwood spaghetti westerns are better

Outlaw Josey Wales is one of the best flicks of all time

John Wayne is great in Red River

Oh wow. I’ve only seen parts of that.

No one ever remembers High Plains Drifter either.

it's probs my fav JW flick tbh some of the other earlier ones are ok but after that they get kinda spotty I mean 'true grit' is ok and 'the shootist' was his last movie really but I Red River is very well done. 'The cowboys' is prob 2nd for JW movies.

High Plains Drifter is ok in a spooky way I also like Pale Rider.

But IMHO the spaghetii westerns with eastwood and van cleef (fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more, good the bad and the ugly) are just crazy good classics

Oh, I mean yeah the Sergio films are untouchable. I’ll have to check some JW stuff one day.

'The cowboys' is prob 2nd for JW movies.

If we leave out The Searchers, Rio Bravo, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Stagecoach.....

Drifter is amazing. Pale Rider is cheesy but good. Unforgiven is cliche for a reason, it's hands down one of the best movies ever.

The Three Burial of Melquiades Estrada is absolutely not what I was expecting, and it fucking kills.

Nice recs.

High Plains Drifter is a classic, and he plays a total radical centrist.

Unforgiven is one of the best movies of any category.

Tombstone is just historical fan fiction like Young Guns.

You mean the movie where Clint Eastwood just rapes some broad who then runs around screaming about how he raped her and everyone is just like "lmao you liked it"

Wut? High Plains Drifter? I thought that was the spooky ghost one. Tbh it’s been like a decade plus since I’ve seen most of these.

It is.

Holy shit, don’t remember that.

Josey Wales was fine. John Wayne is a boomer meme because they had no better actors for the genre

Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, Randolph Scott.

You need to watch more movies.

Gary Cooper is the only name on that list that's entirely respectable

Fuck, I forgot about Red River. Great movie

Once Upon A Time In America was an amazing spaghetti western

I only speak Freedom

Oh, lo siento, pensé que esto era América

reeeee

Pour one out for Bill Paxton and Powers Boothe, talk shit on Easteood films again and I'll burn you down

I remember actually being really interested in this when it was first announced. Any good?

It's worth watching at least once. I was entertained.

Have you seen The Good, the Bad, the Weird?

It's a Korean homage to/parody of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly set in 1930s Manchuria. The plot is only loosely based on the Leone original, but there are some recreations of iconic scenes.

This is OP

For a Few Dollars More is better

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is better

Hang 'Em High is better

Unfogiven is better

And those are just the Eastwoods

Once Upon a Time in the West is better

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is better

Ride the High Country is better

The Magnificent Seven is better

High Noon is better

The Searchers is better than all of those

My Darling Clementine is a better movie about Tombstone than Tombstone

Hell, Duck, You Sucker might be better

Unforgiven is literally the only part you have right

Have you seen The Searchers?

OP is probably 14 years old. Searchers and Clementine are amazing.

I have not

fair

You should, it's really good. In my honest opinion it's John Ford's best movie, and that's saying something.

It's probably the best John Wayne movie.

You're wrong, but I'm still going to upvote you.

epic upboats are all I want, I appreciate your pity

Tombstone is my favorite rainy-day, stuck inside, movie. It’s comfy and feels like home and literally every line is quotable and amazing.

Val Kilmer’s Doc is also the most loveable badass ever written.

Unforgiven, though, is a work of art and stands with the greats as one of the best films, not just of the western genre, of all time.

Val Kilmer’s Doc is also the most loveable badass ever written.

"Are you gonna do something or are you just gonna stand there and bleed?"

Whyyyy Johnny Ringo...You look like someone just walked over your grave....

My favorite line is actually from Wyatt Earp.

"YOU TELL EM I'M COMING! AND HELLS COMING WITH ME, YA HEAR!?"

Evidently Mr. Ringo is an educated man. Now I really hate him.

Actually Fistful is a scene by scene remake of a Japanese movie Yojimbo

My pap always said Bitch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was gay as fuck and I'm inclined to agree, but otherwise this is a fantastic list.

You're sleeping on Jeremiah Johnson though.

Unforgiven blows it out of the water.

Wrong, Brokeback Mountain. ☝️

Not really a Western but did you ever see Bone Tomahawk?

Also what is your opinion on Big Money Rustlas?

Spaghettis all seem so dated and slow, the modern era of American cinema is much better IMO. Like where’s the comedic relief characters, pop references or black people

True Grit is damn good, and so is 3:10 to Yuma

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is the greatest western of all time, no question

fuck you, Outlaw Josey Wales is best.
