The sub in general is a mix of LEOs, people in the military, and LARPers. Mostly LARPers. This steel body armor argument only applies to LARPers because steel armor is too heavy for anyone to wear all day like cops/military have to.
I actually have a bad knee and It was fine. That said where I live I like to trail run because of the soft dirt and sand. I don’t run on concrete weighted.
Every ranger or Marine that saw active duty I've ever met had fucked up knees and/or feet/shins/ankles/hip/back before 30. I've just had an oddly large amount of experience with these guys where I end up hiking with them for many days, they've all got something from extended pack runs.
I have a plate carrier with ar500 plates to give whoever is unlucky enough to be with me when SHTF. Can’t wait to die because I’m laughing so hard when they catch a .308 ricochet off the plate into their face
Rebranded or second hand Hesco is what I would go with. I have a million active/vet buds so wasn’t hard for me but not hard if you look.
Also I don’t even necessarily think AR won’t take the hits the way some people complain. What I do think is that shit is way too heavy to actually use extended use unless you are actively training with it to a stupid amount.
All that said I’m a fucking civilian who just has spent a lot of time drinking and talking with friends who know a lot more.
Steel will have expectation as well(the coating will) and ya it’s almost always going to be heavier. Ar500 isn’t awful don’t listen to mall ninjas, I just wouldn’t wear that shit all day

The ultimate LARPers.

I need context on this; is this like LEOs, or LARPers?

Literally this. I used to run in my steel plates literally for only endurance training purposes lol

doesn't running with that amount of weight on kill your knees?

So, probably.

Well, I'd say I'm surprised Phoenix is the home to a paramilitary gear shop, but this seems par for my memory.

I just don’t see cheaping our on stuff like this. I got mine for 100 bucks at a garage sale just because lol

Have a better option? Steel plate do seem to need soft armor over them to catch fragments

This thread actually has decent advice in it.

I have a set of ar500 it is heavy. But is it heavier than other steel plates? Ceramic is light, but thicker, and I think it has an expiration date too

It is heavy as hell. I have never heard anything negative about it except the weight
1 Day_of_the_COPE 2019-07-14
It’s the PSA of armor lol
