If you support free speech, you must support people pinging other users. It's completely legal speech. If you won't defend pinging as free speech because you or someone else finds it disgusting, then no speech that you or anyone else views as disgusting is safe.

>if it is in fact on shaky legal ground it's reasonable to not want to be the case that establishes it as illegal.

It's not, The reddit admins are straight up lying to the ignorant (like yourself) to justify their prejudice. Pinging being protected speech has long since been estabilished, as it has undeniable artistic merit. The only time it's been included under any obscenity laws is when someone is being charged with possession of harassment, so the state can slap them with more charges. The courts have been very careful to not charge anyone for pinging, because they'd get their asses fucking annihilated by a higher court due to the firm precedence of pinging being completely legal speech. /r/Drama had nothing to worry about, this guy was just making shit up to fool people into thinking his censoring wasn't entirely personally motivated.

he's in politics. there's an element of pandering to everything

look at this cunt

I like the cope from the guy claiming it’s evangelical boomers who are using this to attack him.

I am still can't understand how he managed to fuck up his campaign so badly

he was raising money, he had almost two digit lead in the polls, but now he won't be able to enter the debate in September

He couldn't beat Ted Cruz. Why was anyone excited for this guy?

because he might not had beaten Ted Cruz, but he had REALLY GREAT partisan state score (basically measuring the average election in a state and comparing it to his campaign), among the best actually, so the thought was that if he scored this well nationwide, be would totally crush the general election

Elizabeth Warren for example has the worst score of all Senators maybe with the exception of Mitch McConnell, this is why I think democrats electing her is a bad idea

I guess that makes sense I thought they were thinking they would win Texas with him which would be moronic

I mean Trump is not very popular in Texas, in 2016 he won there by like 8-9 points and his approval rating there are some of the worst if we account for the partisan leaning of the state, so if there would be a great recession, Trump going full mayo nationalist in response to that and also did some anti-gun stuff, it's plausible if not very likely that O'Rourke would have won that state

Yeah, Texas isn't AS red as everyone thinks it is. It's definitely a red state, and still pretty solidly red at that, but it's not Alabama levels of red, and there's enough blue for it to become a purple state in the next decade or two.
