If you support free speech, you must support people pinging other users. It's completely legal speech. If you won't defend pinging as free speech because you or someone else finds it disgusting, then no speech that you or anyone else views as disgusting is safe.

It's not, The reddit admins are straight up lying to the ignorant (like yourself) to justify their prejudice. Pinging being protected speech has long since been estabilished, as it has undeniable artistic merit. The only time it's been included under any obscenity laws is when someone is being charged with possession of harassment, so the state can slap them with more charges. The courts have been very careful to not charge anyone for pinging, because they'd get their asses fucking annihilated by a higher court due to the firm precedence of pinging being completely legal speech. /r/Drama had nothing to worry about, this guy was just making shit up to fool people into thinking his censoring wasn't entirely personally motivated.
This is a direct result from the litany of excuses used when discussing this type of behavior. Everything, and I mean everything is blamed besides these people usually belonging to communities where nobody gives a shit about anything. They litter, have no desire to find a career, commit crimes, and at the end of the day they blame it on not enough money for community programs. Or there being a sort of systematic bias against those who try to better themselves. It isn't outside influences. It isn't an invisible boogey man with a foot on their throat. It's their peers and role models that teach them to value chaos and steal anything you want instead of work for it.
It's happened for decades and will continue as long as those in power can sit back and snidely remark "See? We just need more money and more government funded programs." It's a dilapidated, dangerous building that needs to be demolished, not fixed.

One is airsoft, but the other two have been tuned by the finest gunsmiths West of Sheboygan to be deadlier than a Sentinelese spearman spotting a fat Christian. The first of these two is .22lr pistol, which has an incredibly long barrel, and I only carry the finest ammunition, a bronze cast bullet that is harder than a libertarian in a daycare. If one of these people surrounds my car, they will get a rain of silent hellfire that puts an end to the miserable life they know they must lead.
