When we go through a traumatic experience our memory can distort it (like with everything). So the trauma can be real and the accusation false. People can just suck sometimes. We don't always act logically. They can set up a go fund me, they can have their 15 minutes, it can be a bitter attack again the person, it could be they're deluded.
