Why do people think ideologies are completely rigid? Just because an authoritarian dictator doesn't bend to your exact understanding of socialism doesn't mean he wasn't a socialist. There's a difference between an ideology on paper and how an ideology can manifest in reality.
This whole "people that belong to my ideological worldview and do bad things totally aren't really members of my group" thing is getting real old.
