“Qanon” is a tripcoding poster on 4chan’s /pol/. This means Qanon posts are identified as the same password being used for a username rather than the usual anonymous nameless 4chan posts.

Qanon posted variously to /pol/ claiming to be an unspecified high up person in the government with inside info.

Now, these LARPs are nothing new. Before this “FBIanon” posted similar claims at inside info. However the key difference is this: Qanon began posting when normies/Boomers started to heat about 4chan (to them /pol/ and 4chan are interchangeable terms). The Boomers don’t really understand what 4chan is, and are lead to think it’s some kind of secret hacker forum populated by people in the political know. The phrase “/pol/ was right again” went from being sarcastically said by 4chan posters to unironically chanted by Boomers.

The 4chan to Boomer pipeline is screenshots taken from /pol/ and reposted to Facebook. What’s great about this is that it creates an absolutely biased filter. The innumerable retarded and clearly wrong or upsetting posts on /pol/ are never seen by Boomers. The times when Qanon is clearly wrong are never seen. Instead they get to see cherrypicked Qanon posts framed in such a way to make Qanon seem like an infallible political oracle who validated their only conspiratorial leanings.
