Some of his shit is spot on, don't get me wrong. I think he has a lot to say to help a lot of the aimless and kind of pathetic young men in the world. A lot of his takes on gender are good, too. Men and women aren't the same, just because biological determinism is retarded we shouldn't then expect men and women to have a 50/50 split in every profession. All that shit is good.
My issue is when he will either talk in extremely vague terms or will say things that are just outright wrong because he speaks about things he isn't trained in. For example, while I'm not a Marksist, nor am I an expert in Marksism, when he talks about it and tries to tie it to things like post-modernism and such he does a terrible job. I can see a vague connection, a lot of post-modernists were Marksists at some point and many of them are critical theorists which is strongly based in Marksist analysis from my understanding. That said, he never actually connects all of the dots, nor does he ever really go in depth about how Marksists perceive class struggle and how it has been applied to intersectionality. He seems to dance around it without ever going in depth into it.
Another one that comes to mind is when he made the claim that women entering the workforce brought down wages by increasing the supply of labor. This isn't something that's really true, because the increased labor supply is offset by the increased demand created by women who have income to spend. There may have been certain sectors that saw wages drop because they received a disproportionately large surplus of female labor, but on the whole wages did not decrease because of women entering the labor force, pretty much every economist would agree with that.
He does that quite a bit, and while I appreciate a good deal of what he has to say the amount of bad takes he has made him drop off my radar. He also has a lot of foot-in-mouth moments like when he said he believes in enforced monogamy. I understand that he meant that as using culture to enforce monogamous relationships, it's not unreasonable for someone to hear that and think he means some sort of state-enforcement of monogomy. It's tiring to have to constantly do double takes of what he has to say because he never stops to consider how it could be interpreted.
