If you support free speech, you must support people pinging other users. It's completely legal speech. If you won't defend pinging as free speech because you or someone else finds it disgusting, then no speech that you or anyone else views as disgusting is safe.

>if it is in fact on shaky legal ground it's reasonable to not want to be the case that establishes it as illegal.

It's not, The reddit admins are straight up lying to the ignorant (like yourself) to justify their prejudice. Pinging being protected speech has long since been estabilished, as it has undeniable artistic merit. The only time it's been included under any obscenity laws is when someone is being charged with possession of harassment, so the state can slap them with more charges. The courts have been very careful to not charge anyone for pinging, because they'd get their asses fucking annihilated by a higher court due to the firm precedence of pinging being completely legal speech. /r/Drama had nothing to worry about, this guy was just making shit up to fool people into thinking his censoring wasn't entirely personally motivated.

I think it didn't link to the actual comment, fucking reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/ckigh2/comment/evnubxw

What is the point of this fucking question if you know the answer already and get mad at people who have the wrong feeling about WWII.

Also, he is an obvious troll.

I didn’t grow up there but an exchange student from Germany at my high school said that they are religiously taught that Hitler was a terrible person and they do everything they can to prevent it from happening again.

We had an exchange student from East Germany who preached to us about how the real genocide was when English people came to America and found that everyone was dead from diseases they caught from Spanish people accidentally 200 years earlier. Literally the same thing as putting people into gas chambers.

It really was one of the best kinds of cultural diplomacy I've ever engaged in. I learned that they really are like all the wartime propaganda made them out to be.

Eastern Europeans are beyond retarded. I don't think I've ever engaged with a single dude from Eastern Europe who wasn't at least three of these five things: autistic, weeb, extremely religious, rabidly anti-American, rabidly anti-Russian

rabidly anti-American, rabidly anti-Russian

That combination always throws me off about EEs. Grumpy bunch.

Dealing with the Russians was the worst part of highschool for me. They were like an entire race of goblins, worshipping the USSR with petty theft and marital rape being their primary interests

All the estimates I've read is that 90% of Injuns got permabonked by Spanish germs before proto-Americans arrived.

Burgers asking the same question over and over again, then upvoting the same answer again and again, then believing they learned something about other countries than burgerland.

The funny thing about it is that the conception of that period in history in most Germans' minds is already heavily tainted by the Allies' narrative. It's like an urban Austrian trying to describe the Alpine culture to anglos but having gotten all their info from The Sound of Music

Did your grandparents participate

I hope so!

stop replying to me you fuckgin niggr

that whole tangent about how Americans are instead taught to glorify our bloody history

The People's History of the United States came out 40 years ago and academia embraced it almost immediately. Two full generations of Americans have been taught about the various atrocities committed in the process of colonizing the continent, redditors are just buttmad it isn't 100% constant self-flagellation for our violent ancestors.
