Lateralus is generally considered their magnum opus and is one of the most technically incredible albums made in recent history, but I really think Aenima is the best place to start. It's fucking weird and some songs are downright uncomfortable to listen to at first but I would still say it's more accessible than Lateralus and it has Stinkfist and Forty-Six & 2 which are just wonderful for getting used to the Tool sound.
10,000 days is certainly their worst album so why start there? It's still really good, just not as good as Aenima and not even close to Lateralus.
Damn, holding out was a good move. Tear that shit up.
I never got into Tool, tbh. I don't hate them or not like them, just never really got into them past the first album. I think at the time they seemed more metal than I wanted in a band.

Fuck you too bro.
Thanks for recommendations. I think 10,000 Days was the one someone showed me a bit of like a decade ago.
