Most people don't make it out alive, especially alcoholics. If you happen to get sober, you're one of the lucky few. I've known many alcoholics, and all I've ever really done is not support the habit. Forcing or guilting someone into sobriety rarely ever works for longterm sobriety. The addict has to hit bottom or die.
