Fighting game tournament uses a voice clip without permission to imply a Tekken/Metal Gear crossover

EVO is a big fighting tournament for nerds. Tekken is a popular fighting game that they were playing. David Hayter is the voice of famous videogame character Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, sometimes he records voice clips for fans. He recorded the voice clip "That's some good-ass Tekken" using his Snake voice for one of those fans.
During EVO:
- It was known that something big was going to be announced for Tekken there.
- During the Tekken tournament, EVO plays a video of Snake saying "that's some good-ass Tekken". People think this means they're going to announce Snake as Tekken DLC or something- remember, most fighting game character hype comes from crossovers nowadays, Snake has literally nothing to do with Tekken, and Tekken has already gotten some very unusual crossover characters in the game (like Negan from The Walking Dead)
- Turns out, it was just a joke, and they did not even consult the people that made Tekken before going with this joke. In fact, they didn't consult David Hayter or Konami before using his voice clip
I doubt there will be serious legal consequences for this, but in the worst case scenario Bandai Namco gets mad at EVO for misrepresenting their property and takes punitive measures. It would be devastating if Tekken couldn't be played at EVO, for example.

The rest of your life is going to be lonely and boring if this is what you do with your time during what should be your most exciting years.
Before you know it, college will be over and you'll have no ability to make new friends because you don't have anything interesting to talk about or any way to meet new people. If you're not able to make friends now when it's literally the easiest it will ever be, there's no way you're going to swing it when you're even older.

Actually they didn't steal the clip. They bought the clip via Cameo (site where you pay famous people to say whatever you want) but since it's anonymous, he just thought it was a fan, not a literal organization.
If that's not 1000 iq I don't know what is, but still what the fuck did they expect to happen afterwards
