I hope that this is the end. r/Drama has a unique way of bringing out the worst in people. It really does, I think. The dynamic here is just so fucking toxic and it turns people into the worst possible people they can be.
Drama is an addiction. It should be classified as something more like heroine or meth than a game.
The legacy of Drama has been written large in blood, quite literally. Several Drama posters have committed mayocide, and this place enabled their downward spirals. u/DarqWolff's insanity was made far worse by this place. I've come to the conclusion that the internet, as a social platform, was a mistake.
It radicalizes people by isolating them with other people just like them and so they spiral into the worst versions of themselves. Drama made me a worse person, and it's made most of you worse people. It's been the breeding ground of pedophile groomers, alt-right killers, and suicidal narcissists. This place is a total fucking shithole and I spent three years of my life that I'll never get back immersed in it. It was a total waste and I'm going to regret this period of my life for the rest of my existence as will most of you.
Even the most moral people have been made worse for being here. I think that the fundamental issue with Drama is that due to the way reputations work, betrayal, secret cabals, two-faced bs, and bad faith negotiation isn't just prioritized, it's the only effective way to operate. Being a huge piece of shit to everybody around you and tearing them down like crabs in a bucket isn't just a viable strategy, it's actually the only viable strategy once Drama reached a certain size. It's all just a bunch of assholes circlejerking over how bad all the other assholes are, because it's impossible to do anything else short of outright genociding anybody who poses any sort of threat to Drama's security and dominance.
No it won’t. It’s not just Disney. Everyone is pulling content to start their own streaming services. So beyond just capeshit and space shit and everything Fox makes, NBC pulls all its shows (not just The Office but everything) CBS. Amazon. Lesser capeshit (DC) has its own streaming service. Amazon.
It has nothing to do with cartranstoons but Netflix is absolutely loosing marketshare, and fast. Just Disney alone is an absolute titan and Netflix will never again have the rights to show any of their content for as long as they are in the streaming business.
Netflix has been making original shows for all of six and a half years. Versus nearly (or more than) 100 years in the cases of Disney, 20th Century Fox, and Universal. Amazon and Apple alone are worth ten times the amount Netflix is, each.
I’d never say they were “doomed” or even close to it. They’ll more than likely be fine and continue to make buckets of cash. But there’s no way it won’t be smaller buckets, even if all but one of these heavy hitters fail. They will never be as dominant and profitable as they have been the past couple years.
Amazon and Apple alone are worth ten times the amount Netflix is, each.
That's not really going to help them in getting started in a new sector. Amazon isn't going to halt funding to their AWS platform in order to hire actors and directors. It's really just their brand and installbase that will help them, not their warchest.
We'll see how the Disney streaming service does, it might honestly just not work out.
you're forgetting ameriburgers with kids who want a safe 24/7 service that'll allow them to plop their kids in front of the TV and ignore them for a few hours; imo it'll be disgustingly profitable for disney
netflixs OC sucks donkey balls, there are a few diamonds in the rough but overall its pretty mediocre, even if you look at netflix stats, im sure a lot of people use it to have the office/friends/its always sunny on as background noise. I use a family account so I don't pay for it but I absolutely wouldn't flush 12 bucks down the toilet a month to watch like 3 shows that are easily pirateable or watchable at friend's houses.
on a macro level these new moves in the streaming market are the death knell of the golden age of streaming, now to see all your shows you will have to subscribe to 10 different streaming services, eventually someone will bundle them and then boom we are back to cable except now we have data limits that will fuck with our streaming of videos.
Netflix is kind of fucked because of all the shit disney owns. They can package disney plus, hulu, nbc and espn...if they buy up a couple networks that make reality tv they've basically got a basic cable package they can offer for $25
I saw like one clip and it seemed to me like a pretty centrist take. It’s not really addressed beyond people just saying it’s cool but also the absurdity of the character still having a deep male voice makes it almost satirically funny
character still having a deep male voice makes it almost satirically funny
From the clip it seemed like it was making fun of troons. Having a deep voiced man sport colored hair whilst pronouncing themself to be a woman is a funny contrast.
Almost every time social media blows up about something being problematic or woke sjw bullshit, you'll find that it's blown out of proportion if you actually watch said movie/tv/whatever it is.
Yeah sometimes they're right, but usually it's portrayed with lot more nuance than they're suggesting, it's just social media drops all the nuance, cherrypicks the worst parts and drums up idiotic outrage, the movies are usually smart enough to not go full retard on issues.
Lmao sure all those cartoons that people complain about enforcing harmful render roles or whatever were totally woke. That’s why radlibs complain about The Little Mermaid so much, because they agree with it!
Jesus Christ horseshoe at work. That bio is a “gender fluid” bisexual Sonic fan with a bunch similarly autistic weirdos defending this. There’s even a banner with sonic carrying the flag, as if that won’t just make LGBTards look more embarrassing. Never mind I hate this show, the people who defend it and the people who hate it

Why do they think netflix is losing money, lol?
https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/NFLX/netflix/revenue
1 Nom_Chompy 2019-08-11
Those figures end in June. Look into July.
1 professorshillphd 2019-08-11
That's losing stock value, which will likely rebound, not losing revenue really.
1 Nom_Chompy 2019-08-11

1 professorshillphd 2019-08-11
I'd be pretty shocked if it didn't rebound, netflix has had time to prepare and has been making decent content for a while.
Netflix is fine.

My only hope is that the Disney one fails tbh.
1 Ardvarkeating101 2019-08-11
I hope that just in general. Same with Newcorp, Nestle, and Hasbro (but that last one just for shits and giggles).
1 Nom_Chompy 2019-08-11
If only. Literally too big to fail now. They own damn near everything.
1 Stoicpeace 2019-08-11
I know, I was just hoping Disney plus fails and they keep pumping money into it.
1 aqouta 2019-08-11
The mouse is actually smaller than you'd imagine as far as mega corps go.
1 Nom_Chompy 2019-08-11
Yeah puny compared to those tech giants. The wealth of IP though?
1 Tzar-Romulus 2019-08-11
Netflix will just end up being HBO but with a better user interface.
1 TrailerParkRide 2019-08-11
And harder to pirate

1 Nom_Chompy 2019-08-11
Amazon is spending huge amounts already hiring directors and actors and producing tons of content.
1 aqouta 2019-08-11
True, but I would wager the actual funds going to do this are similar.
1 Nom_Chompy 2019-08-11
True.

1 professorshillphd 2019-08-11
I'm sure it will be, but I mean more so in the sense Disney cares a lot about their brand, the "innocent" aspect.
It's possible netflix will operate in a completely different lane.
1 aqouta 2019-08-11
Imagine unironically believing in american exceptionalism and thinking they're the only ones who want their kids to fuck off for hours.
1 YaBoyStevieF 2019-08-11
Netflix original content is 99% trash
1 professorshillphd 2019-08-11
I don't know about 99%, but overall it's not worse than the garbage everyone else produces.

Lol Netflix never had half that shit outside the US and it's still massively popular there

Netflix needs to license weird obscure foreign shit.
1 TrailerParkRide 2019-08-11
For a while they were picking up lots of great Korean movies, but that seems to have petered out in the past few years.
1 Coonass_alt 2019-08-11
only one i watched is train to busan
1 TrailerParkRide 2019-08-11
I Saw the Devil and Barking Dogs Never Bite are both great, but they're gone.

holy shit a actual man child complaining about a literal kids cartoon
1 Psyman2 2019-08-11
One day they'll understand that all kids cartoons back then were woke as fuck.
Just kidding, nostalgia glasses are too strong. He-Man was the straightest thing.

Disney was the anti-woke guy in the room.
The only one.
