This is especially a problem on reddit. “Sorry Brazil, not a single square foot of that massive rainforest can burn down because we like seeing pictures of it on instagram”. Like do these retards not realize that the only reason the Amazon is on fire is because the Brazilian government set it on fire to make room for more farms to feed the fatass burgertards and their endless need for meat? Does anyone else find it hard to feel bad for these smug average Redditors bitching about a country they know nothing about trying to expand its economy so their people don’t starve to death anymore?

The Amazon is burning less than it usually does this year. Amazon fires aren’t even a problem. The Amazon actually contributes virtually nothing to the world in terms of oxygen. Deforestation in the Amazon is down 75% from 2004. There is literally nothing newsworthy about this.

I've seen people say this and people usually respond that this is only true if you look at the ENTIRETY of what burned last year. We still have months to go in 2019. Hard to find exact numbers right now though since most articles are talking about the "numbers" of fires not acreage. If you have acreage stats i would love to see them
