In The Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien drew upon the language and themes found in the old Medieval hero-tales in order to construct a kind of new mythology. The brilliance of Tolkien was in his departure from the Pagan modes of conduct and morality of these old tales, his creation of a syncretistic fusion between Christian thought and Pagan language, and so his work achieved a deep resonance with all who read it.
We find this passage at the conclusion of The Return of the King:
>The Dark Lord was suddenly aware of him, and his Eye piercing all shadows looked across the plain to the door that he had made; and the magnitude of his own folly was revealed to him in a blinding flash, and all the devices of his enemies were at last laid bare.
Adversaries in the stories that Tolkien drew upon, Grendel, Mordred and the like, often served as obstacles that the heroes could overcome through feats of strength and cunning. Sauron is not like them. When Sauron is defeated, it is not because Aragorn is stronger than him or because Gandalf is wiser. They are not. It is only that his hubris was so great that it never occured to him that anyone would want to destroy the thing he held so dear. It is not until the final few seconds of his existence that he realises his mistake.
I think that I Am Jazz displays a similar moment. In the pictured scene, Jazz's journey to what he believes is womanhood is almost complete. He is resting after surgery, a triumphant smile on his face, his rotting groin held together by a labyrinthine patchwork of stitches and grafts. But as Eru Ilúvatar nudged Gollum over the Crack of Doom into the fires beneath, so too does the God of our world intervene in this.
>Pop!
In a second, the follies of men are undone and Jazz's crotch explodes, a meaty froth of blood and pus pouring out of the hole where his penis used to be.
As much as I hate him, he is the ultimate chad on this planet. Who else can just blurt out something like "Jesus was a fag" or whatever on tv and still have a high approval rating in a country where divorce is still illegal.
President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the government will purchase “a lot” of the drug esketamine, a derivative of ketamine.
Though ketamine is known as a recreational hallucinogen, Trump asserted that a new nasal-spray derivative would be of great benefit to veterans with depression. As he left the White House for a veterans’ conference in Kentucky, he told reporters that he had instructed the Department of Veterans Affairs to make a large purchase—overriding a recent decision by the doctors who manage the hospitals’ formulary of which drugs are to be prescribed.
“There’s a product that’s made right now that just came out by Johnson & Johnson which has a tremendously positive—pretty short-term, but nevertheless positive—effect,” Trump said. But that statement is contrary to the evidence. A review by the Food and Drug Administration of what limited studies have been done with esketamine found mixed results, leaving many scientists unsure if the drug is indeed effective and safe. Just last week, the agency published a report that said the drug was not reliably better than placebo.
How much did Johnson & Johnson pay him? 2. No doctors going to prescribe a ton of a drug the data they do have says not a solution further than getting to get high for a bit.
You’re quoting a watered down anti trump article by somebody who doesn’t understand medicine or science. If you’re gonna post long ass paragraphs of “evidence” at least get them from a good source.
Because treatment with esketamine might be so helpful to patients with treatment-resistant depression (meaning standard treatments had not helped them), the FDA expedited the approval process to make it more quickly available. In one study, 70 percent of patients with treatment-resistant depression who were started on an oral antidepressant and intranasal esketamine improved, compared to just over half in the group that did not receive the medication (called the placebo group).
“This is a game changer,” says John Krystal, MD, chief psychiatrist at Yale Medicine and one of the pioneers of ketamine research in the country. The drug works differently than those used previously, he notes, calling ketamine “the anti-medication” medication. “With most medications, like valium, the anti-anxiety effect you get only lasts when it is in your system. When the valium goes away, you can get rebound anxiety. When you take ketamine, it triggers reactions in your cortex that enable brain connections to regrow. It’s the reaction to ketamine, not the presence of ketamine in the body that constitutes its effects,” he says.
ketamine infusions have been around for a bit. supposedly it works its a very involved process though. And its a dissociative with hallucinogenic properties, it might be used as an animal tranquilizer but its much closer to PCP than it is any opioid
The most therapeutic drug I've ever tried, which I initially tried for recreational reasons and ended up having my life affected positively, was a Ketamine analogue called "Methoxetamine" (MXE)
It was still pretty powerful and psychedelic - but its main effects didn't last too long, and it had an afterglow which left you feeling very motivated, sharp and calm. (but not like a stimulant, it just felt positive)
Unfortunately this chemical was only ever made by one lab in China.
When the Research Chemical stuff got too out of control, a lot of the chemicals were banned in China with a possible death sentence for anyone manufacturing it.
MXE was pretty niche, and nobody has been able to make the stuff for over 10 years now.
It may never be synthesised again, and be lost to history, which is such a shame since there was definitely therepeutic potential with it. (there's still demand for it, and 10 year old batches go for extortionate prices on the DN
It's considered legendary, and stories of it unexpectedly helping people improve their lives are a dime a dozen, it was profound. (it was also superior to Ket in just about every way)
I do think there's real potential in K analogues for things like depression, perhaps nmda receptors have a bigger impact than we know?
I really hope we'll find out someday exactly what prescriptions he's on. I've always suspected that a fat senile geezer like him would need some adderal to maintain his energy level.

He’s right on this one though. Occasional K-infusions and therapy treat depression more effectively than most anti-depressants, even in treatment-resistant individuals.

In that moment of blind panic and terror, Jazz is Sauron. All triumph and victory is gone. Only the Void remains.

I saw a commercial for special K for depression yesterday and I couldn't believe it.
It took nearly a century to get medicinal marijuana and just start testing for psilocybins but apparently pain killers cure everything.

I'd rather commit suicide than take a dirty drug to cure my depression.

Would you take a dirty drug to commit suicide?
1 ManBearFridge 2019-08-31
Good point, yeah why not?
