Lol, I grew up in a solidly working class area in a solidly working class household. I worked in numerous factories/construction sites and know the ins and outs of that and other working class professions pretty intimately.
Some certainly saw it their jobs go the way of the dodo, but that demographic was fairly specific. Namely it wasn't "immigrants" taking their jobs it was the jobs disappearing altogether (coal, simpler manufacturing jobs lost to automation). Besides that Trump's main voting bloc was nowhere near working class people... it was upper-middle class whites w/o college degrees... aka usual GOP voters. Even still Trump got less of the national voting share than fucking Romney. He got in due to the VRA being fatally weakened, not due to some sort of new groundswell.
