Edit: btw I love anime and grew up on dbz. reflecting back the show was pretty surface level in comparison to a lot of the other animes I've come to love over the years, and a lot of the themes and motifs they glorified are things I definitely should not have been exposed to as a growing black child. like Mr popo and Master Roshi.
Well, anime as a whole is problematic. And Dragon ball, even more so. I mean, there black Japanese people. But the ones see are straight from black face era designs. And Mr. Popo..... Super got real awkward when it randomly decided to make Master Roshin sexual offender.... again.
As old fan of the series, I fully recognize all the warts and gross stuff in DB. But I see a lot of good within the series, so ignoring the gross is easy for me. But it allows the general audience to think this shit acceptable. When in reality, it's not cool to have entire episode focus around an old man training his will power to NOT SEXUAL ASSAULT WOMEN.
A bunch of people are calling the clip hilarious and such, but it's literally just him screaming a slur over and over, not even dressed up inside of any kind of joke.
Humor on the right is literally just angrily screaming slurs.
Seriously. None of this is well done enough to even be funny. Is homophobia a joke in itself now? The idea that a bunch of middle-aged voice actors from a children's show recorded their characters having an orgy, complete with awkward dialogue and pauses and cheesy background music, makes me cringe hard. I've been a fan of Dragon Ball for decades, and I'll be the first to admit that nostalgia helps me gloss over many of the more racist/sexist moments in the show, but this is just awkward. It is awkward to me that grown-ass adults sat down and made this, thinking this was hillarious. It is awkward to me that people on reddit don't see what the fuss is about, and can laugh at these "funny jokes" that are at best on level with poop jokes, at worst homophobic and hateful.
During the ToP arc. Vegeta is getting his ass whipped. And goku screams "Vegeta" And you could feel the worry and concern in her tone. It helps sell the moment. And makes the scene dire.

Literally all of their top of all time posts are from 6 years ago when Reddit was 5 times smaller. Their whole “circlequeef” meme of trying to act like edgy rightoids just makes them look like a more pathetic version of r/GenderCritical now that nobody cares about them anymore.
