As a bird, could you tell me why most animals are a minority in the furry world? It seems a majority are dogs/cats, I'm assuming it's just due to laziness to try and make suits for other animals.
Furries are uncreative autists that opt for color variation rather than actual species diversity. That's why you'll see a fuckton of sparkledog fursonas with the same silhouette but all with a slightly different variety of puked up skittles inspired color palettes.
The furry fetish generally seems to stem from wanting to be a fantasy creature rather than fucking one, which is the difference between that and monster girls I'd guess.
Cats/dogs are the most common pets (actually after fish but who gives a fuck about fish?) and thus probably easiest to relate to. I don't think it goes any deeper than that.
Saddest thing about furries is how pathetic their fursuits look. I'm not even talking about some fursuit disasters, but even the best fursuits look like characters in a cheap cartoon.
Capeshitters might be pathetic too but they are capable of creating some decently looking cosplays, furries can't even do that. And they don't tend to wear diapers so that's also a plus.
