Birds (as well as other things) are inversed to us when it comes to homogametic chromosomal sexual determination.
I have a hypothesis as to why this is still persistent.
Birds (and other things) have Z and W chromosomes as opposed to our X and Y but don't let that confuse you too much.
The real thing I'm trying to get at is that male birds are ZZ - females are ZW -- humans (and lotsa lotsa lotsa other things) are XX female/XY male
The homogametic sexual determination in most species seems to come with extra bits of flair.
Think of women with our long hair and other feminine qualities.
Now... Male birds - they're homogametic right
I think the reason is because that some of them picked up the homogametic sex chromosomes back around the time of LUCA or some shit, maybe some other large branch split off.
Maybe absolutely ancient avian females were the pretty ones who screamed like thunder.
Probably any females that picked up these qualities got trounced by predators.
Imagine the predators you draw in when you SCREAM AS LOUD AS THUNDER or carry around giant peacock feathers all day.
The males are scrapier and can defend themselves better yknow
so its ok for them to have the wacky flair
Its very likely dinosaurs exhibited these qualities.
The researchers suggested the unusual call may be the result of sexual selection. Cohn-Haft speculated that plentiful food in the bellbird’s mountain habitat had allowed the species to become unhitched from strict obedience to the dictates of survival of the fittest
Why is the bellbird so loud? Well, to attract a mate, of course. While shouting at the opposite sex doesn't work very well for humans, the volume of the male white bellbird's song is a way to attract a female. In fact, the loudest songs of all came when females sidled up close to the males.
This gave me a much needed hearty laugh during my lunch break.
I was so tickled by this article that i summarized it to my wife as super masculine birds who scream at 125.4 lb decibels for sex and she responded with
so, basically she gives in so he'll shut up?
Hit a little close to home. I'm definitely going to try screaming in her face tonight and see what happens.

From the less cancerous article about it
Looks like its not predators eating the females, but just bird chads who couldnt give less of a fuck about survival due to the favourable conditions

Still does get exhibited in a lot of the birds of paradise as well as less exotic species though.

Yeah, youre 100% onto something. Hell, i spaced out while reading your comment and almost thought you were talking about peacoks
The chromosome part was fascinating to learn btw, thanks for that

😘
My eyes rolled into the back of my head while I was writing it.

Somehow I'd never heard of this before. Obviously this is a Mandela Effect phenomenon and I just jumped dimensions. It can't be that I was ignorant.
I really liked this one. I'm almost afraid I'm gonna end up going to raves if I keep listening to more of your stuff. 😲

Birds weren't mentioned in the Bible even a single time.

It sounds like a foghorn from an airport running through a tube or the sound when a basketball american game ends
