I mean if you were in the top 1% and lived in Moscow, your life wasn't so bad, especially after the purges - you got a nice dacha near the sea, got free stuff from the elites who were whacked before you, presumably because you snitched on them, there might have a been Holodomor going on in the country side and millions dying from hunger, but you got pretty decent food
Dude only party officials generally got purged, no one gave a shit what some random peasant thought. Also imagine comparing the Soviet unions 1% to ours, lol. The Soviet 1% made 4% of the income. Ours makes 40%. Ten fold difference. In terms of wealth of course it would be an even more uneven distribution.
They also didn't purge party officials after Stalin usually. Although I feel kind they should have. Gorbachev shouldn't an obvious purge candidate.
gonna take the bait - yeah, they might made 'only' 4 times the average, but that doesn't account for the benefits that were tied to their workplace, great housing, which btw the apartments they lived are now worth millions of dollars on Russian market
Its wytes arguing that "x wasn't that bad" or "x was misunderstood" and shouting down people who lived through it. What else is new? They only get away with it because the victims of communism are palefaces or asians, not brauhn gods.
Guilty youtube pleasures; watching someone who got out of a leftist state one step ahead of a firing squad make some college foid cry in an auditorium full of people. I need to dig up that article on how wyte wymyn's tears are weaponized against pocs, because its absolutely true.
lmao yes under glorious communism there would be no environmental exploitation
That idea actually makes zero sense. They didn't follow a train of thought and arrive at a conclusion; it's just some shit they made up for a soundbite.
The idea is that capitalism requires constant growth to function therefor constant resource extraction creating constant increases in pollution. “””””Real””””” Communism supposedly doesn’t need constant growth to function so it doesnt need to create unsustainable levels of pollution because of this. Thats be basic gist of what they are trying to argue, ignoring how communism really doesnt have any real solutions to pollution issues and in many cases made it worse in places like the USSR.
The left just can't focus. There's some truth to the whole "special snowflake" meme in that people in the left always want to add their own dumb shit to something that works.
When they don't do that, they can be effective (ex: "Moscow Mitch").
But they almost always do that.
Where the right will hit on something and laser focus on it.
which is why democrats are lucky they have Pelosi as their leader, she was the sole person who was able to hold the from impeachment when all these stupid progressives wanted Trump removed over dozens of boring ass procedural violations that nobody gives a fuck about, thanks to her this narrow Ukraine stuff actually has a bare majority support among the public - she also was the one who disciplined democrats not to talk about Russia, but healthcare instead during the midterms
I swear if she wasn't their leader, democrats would not even take the house during the midterms
The focus on Ukraine is a bad look because it's clear she only got mad once an elites definitely corrupt failson got touched. Like the action was bad, OK. But don't pretend at if the target has nothing to do with her sudden concern. She has a fail daughter to protect.
I understand and somewhat agree with the argument that a centralized state system would allow for the mass mobilization that would address the climate issue. But, these are the same people who refuse to acknowledge or even test carbon capture solutions or climate engineering ideas because they "re-inforce existing structures". Anything that doesn't destroy capitalism is a no go because these people care more about ideology than solving an issue that transcends ideology.
As someone who genuinely prioritizes this issue, it's so enraging to see this movement fall to the "intersectionality" trap that Occupy Wall Street faced. Anyone remember that moron who was twerking at the front of the climate March in the UK (I think that's where it was)? Do these boneheads not realize the optics of this turns off regular people who could maybe be interested in their movement?

Don't hate, it's bad for your soul.
It's ok to strongly dislike but don't hate.

I want these people to spend 5 years in the Soviet Union. Just 5 years in some distopian brutalist Siberia hellhole.

You're oversimplifying a complex issue to the point of adding nothing to the discussion.

Calling Klein a fraud adds nothing. Klein already showed with The Shock Doctrine that she's a greater economist than Milton Friedman could ever be.

Wow that’s still retarded and makes no sense
1 dogDroolsCatsRules 2019-10-26
It's even more retarded because communism is by concept productivist, and thus growth is inevitable.
